So this is a bit stupid in some ways, but homesick as all hell right now plus a good dose of cabin fever - kinda sick of my own company. I was really just starting to feel settled in Melbourne when February came along and throwing everything I'd planned (which included regular trips to see the folks) into disarray.
The being unable to visit the folks is in some ways worse than the actual not seeing them part. Seems weird, but they've only been a relatively short journey away, but now that it's not an option it's fucking with my head a bit. Fuck you 2020. Right in the urethra.

Yeah, it's some rough times alright. My buddy is near meltdown not being able to go to the gym. That's how he manages.

It's definitely a time for breaking out the mental health toolbox.
I've started some gardening, although given I have about 2m square to plant in, it's mostly pot plants. I do have a few strawberry plants that are doing well, just planted some tomato seedlings. It's not a lot of activity, but I find some peace seeing how they're doing with my morning coffee. Also trawling TradeMe for cheaps parts that could be used for projects, but I'm poor so it's largely browsing. Looking for a cheap PSU right now to power a car amp from mains for my media server. I'm also collecting GBA and GameCube games, as a consequence of a deep house clean and pulling out all my old toys. If anyone has any, I'll pay you a fair price, if I can afford it at least. I've gotten up before midday two days in a row now! lolz

GMG: Being either a) in considerable pain, or b) stoned and incapable of clear thinking, apart from shortish periods as the codine is either kicking in or wearing off.
Aah the experience of getting your gum sliced open, a chunk of bone drilled out of your jaw, followed by a titanium spike literally screwed into your jaw with a torque-wrench. Not an experience I recommend if you don't need it.

They Uni should flip the script so students were also graded on Te Reo and Tikanga & then give special admission to those who don't make the cut.

drugs are bad mmmkay
Got distracted while fumbling around for headache panadol in the kitchen pantry and accidentally took our 15-year-old dog's neuralgia medication instead. Realised about 15 minutes later and initiated a call on the big white telephone. Small dose, and probably hurled a lot of it up anyway, but right now I'm realising why our aging golden retriever is happy to just lie around in the sun all day.

What the article doesn’t point out is that Hello fresh didn’t send out the notification to customers until 10pm. I’m not a customer but there will have been a lot of sick people last night.

Disney, the US government, our government.
Copyright laws aren't for us. They're written for... well mostly Disney these days, to be held over us. Culture is a possession to be owned, and not by those generating it.

Old car problems GMG, lolz.
My 15 year old Mongoose alarm install has failed. Fully dead while immobilised. Got a quote for $250 to just disable it. Can't get a quote to fix it.

Businesses that subtract the time it takes for them to close from their opening hours; so you turn up to purchase something and they say "oh sorry the _x_ is closed"
Mainly food places. If you're a cafe with a coffee drive through and it takes you 15 minutes to close down the coffee machine, don't advertise you close at 4:00PM, but close down the coffee machine at 3:45PM Either close down the machine at 4:00PM, or advertise close at 3:45! GRR |

Yeah, I feel that. Is the business open or not?
I figure it's businesses run by employees rather than anyone who has an actual stake in the enterprise.

#suburbanlife. We are pretty tight with our neighbours and they've helped by letting us do washing at theirs. A far cry from the cesspit that was mangere bridge.

The only time vital household infrastructure fails is between Xmas Eve and mid-Jan. Hot water cylinder, washing machine, fridge, car battery, you name it, that's when it dies.
GG on the #suburbanlife though. It's a nice feeling when people do that shit. |
