I'm not sure that it had a twist. It could have used a twist, or some sort of punchline. I think it's a cop-out to say "Hey look, a gorilla playing the drums! NOW YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IT!" It's not particularly clever. Take into account that the brand is Cadbury and most people are aware of the brand already. It's not a new brand on the market or some brand that makes niche products and wants to get it's image out there. Cadbury is a brand that is already famous the world over and pretty much anything would do the job of keeping the brand on people's minds. So the question is - why a gorilla playing the drums? It wouldn't be hard to come up with something which would get people talking but might actually make sense, or have a twist or punchline which gives the viewer a payoff for watching. Nobody likes to feel like their time is wasted - at least make the 30 seconds worth their while.
BTW, I really like the patronising tone of your post. The whole IT DOESN'T MATTER in caps-lock, the difference between a brand and a product. You've really given me a priceless education. |

Also, that pen thing? At least a pen is useful. The gorilla ad is just lazy advertising. Not much difference between that, IMO, and an ad of a hobo shitting on a doorstep.

They also used the Gorrila playing the drums in the UK to advertise the England RWC campaign if I'm not mistaken.

The particular espresso machine is a Saeco Via Venezia, which is a three year old ex-demo machine, hence the low price. Currently enjoying a (crap made, first attempt) flat white and it's not too bad. They had another BIG machine that was $1200ish with the 50% discount, and one more model similar to what I bought but for $250 while all else is gone. I actually went to the mall to buy a new lawn mower |

Watching TVNZ7 just now, and the ticker along the bottom has the following groaner: "NZ v SA: A repeat of the World Cup Final that never was"
Also, in other sure signs of the Apocalypse; Kylie Minogue has received an OBE.

Do people still watch TV on a regular basis these days?

Only if they're not awesome enough to know about torrents and such. I'm an exception. I watch TV and know about torrents; ergo I am ultra-awesome.

No, it's about increasing punishment after the crime has been done and the victim has been fucked over. Because we all know, there's just mounds and mounds of evidence that this reduces crime. And it's only been tried since the beginning of law and order, and never been successful. No. Lets just focus on that. That'l fix it. And haha at the 'back in black' part of that batman script. |

So since Friday i've watched countless Bill Hicks clips. Man he was great. Pretty incredible insights. Kinda just leaves me feeling sad though.

I wonder if SKY is going to get any sort of punishment from the BSA after displaying hard core porn in the middle of the day comparable to like ALT TV did when they broadcast a couple of offensive texts and they had to go off air for 5 hours, display an apology and pay a $5,000 fine.

I think Sky might get away with it, because they apologised pretty much immediately.
|

Agreed, definitely an ameliorating factor. Especially as ALT TV did that broadcast deliberately - just didn't engage brain before broadcasting. However let off entirely Scott-free? Unlikely as there's too many folks riled up by the other media outfits baying for blood.

Somebody first needs to make a complaint to the BSA. Which will probably happen, if the outrage evident in the TV3 article is genuine.

Sure it was porn and it was on in the afternoon etc etc, but it was on Prime. How many people really watch it or can even get a clear picture of it. They apologised pretty quickly. Not like they tried to ignore or deny it. Personally I'd be more pissed if the allegations against Tony Vetich are true rather than 4 mins of porn. |

Prime still has much a larger audience than Alt TV, and Alt got royally fucked over even though they apologied as well making sure it would never happen again. All I'm interested in seeing is what the BSA chooses to do over something that is far, far more offensive than a couple of txts scrolling along the bottom of a screen.

I love your righteous indignation, ePi. Do you think the BSA will take that into account? Do you think your anger and disappointment came across in the complaint you submitted?

When I heard "My 12 year old daughter was running around with her hands over her eyes going YUKYUKYUK" I thought two things.
1. Give her a few years 2. Yeah, they aren't the prettiest things to look at.
