Seems like BF1943 in modern day with unlocks. *shrug*

Not that much different to every other modern day shooter.

Still makes me wish i had a mouse though.

Oh, and the lack of anti-aliasing makes it look ugly

If I get it on anything, it'll be PC.

Interesting, yeah I will be getting this on PC, the building destruction looks pretty good.

Haven't played BF1943 yet, except for the PS3 demo as I am waiting for it to come out on PC, whenever that is.

I got in, just can't get used to controller though so will probably wait till the PC beta comes out before I play anymore.

Looked pretty good though.

Hey all,

We wanted to update you, and slow the flood of tweets, on questions surrounding the BFBC2 PC Beta being cancelled. I'll get right to it and say "the BFBC2 PC Beta is not cancelled". Now this all started due to changes made to an earlier blog that removed the PC Beta from the details and the reason for this was the plan changed. With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta's capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate. Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.

Here is a recap of the current PC features, and we can now confirm DX11 support with more details to come later!

PC Enhanced Features

* Up to 32 Players on PC (24 on consoles) - Play with up to 32 players online in the biggest multiplayer Maps in Battlefield. Each with a different tactical and gameplay focus set across a variety of environments.
* Full DirectX 9, 10 & 11 Support - Immerse yourself in the Battlefield world as Frostbite engine brings tanks, helicopters and explosions to vivid life on your PC. The game will fully support Windows XP, Vista, and 7 with new tech that further improves things like lighting and shadows.
* Enhanced Gameplay - The PC version also includes wide peripheral support like Joysticks for flying, NVIDIA 3D Vision, Logitech LCD Keyboards and VoIP Support plus a variety of specific features tailored for PC play.
* Friend Support - Find your friends online with the new buddy list to see if and who is online so you can quickly join their game.
* Dedicated Ranked Server - Everyone gets non-stop action with no connection penalties based on some other player's internet. Ranked Server Provider program will give players opportunity to rent their own server(s) located in professional grade datacenters, ability to modify settings like map rotation, create reserved slots for friends or clan members, kick & Ban players, and custom name your ranked server.
* Clan Support & Private Servers - Independent Clan Tag, and ability to rent servers for hosting and controlling private password protected competitive servers with expanded control over the settings from public ranked servers.
* PC Squad Play System - Updated from previous Battlefield PC titles now gives control of your squad before heading into combat.

What's this about rented servers and no DS app?

Sounds like code for "massive underestimation of number of servers available for play upon release".

You can pre-order the game on Steam now, if you do that you get access to the Beta, released on Jan 28th.

Can you confirm that?

From what I've read on the ea blog:

We are however working with Steam to have the Public PC Beta available on Steam, but can't confirm this quite yet so cross your fingers Steam users. :-)

Log into the steam client, and it tells you in there that this is the case or on the Steam site.

the game broswer's borked for me

but if you put EA; (or I guess any other common server search string) in the RecentServers= line of your GameSettings.ini you can at least jump in and have a play by going through the recent servers list rather than the server browser

It looks pretty awesome so far

add 'cheeser' to your friends list for lols

managed to join a sub-300ms server. fun, cant wait to test it on a low ping. I only played for 15minutes but it was good to see team work at play
eng'ies fixing tanks etc.
Good fun cutting down trees and buildings getting at hidden enemies.
attempting to snipe with an rpg another player whos trying to do the same to you.
must evaluate some more

it's 10 steps behind where the ps3 beta is which is unfortunate.. huge issues with multicore cpu's, the server browser is crash prone and is missing the ability to even sort/filter servers.. i dont want to be connected to servers 12 time zones away damnit.

Hope it gets better this weekend

I've put a lot of hours into this game yesterday and today, it's awesome!

In terms of getting on decent servers, do a file search for "GameSettings.ini" and put this line in:

Code:
FavoriteGames=GamerHub BFBC2 #1;GamerHub BFBC2 #2;GamerHub BFBC2 #3;GamerHub BFBC2 #4;GamerHub BFBC2 #5;Hypernia Bad Company 2 Beta Sydney 1;Hypernia Bad Company 2 Beta Sydney 2;Hypernia Bad Company 2 Beta Sydney 3;Hypernia Bad Company 2 Beta Sydney 4;Hypernia Bad Company 2 Beta Sydney 5;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #01;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #02;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #03;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #04;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #05;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #06;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #07;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #08;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #09;GameArena BF:BC2 Beta #10;
The gamerhub servers are NZ, the rest are Aus. Just fire up the game, click servers on the bottom right, then favorite servers.

also There's an entry in settings.ini (in your BFBC2Beta folder in my documents). Set Bloom=false.

Add +fullproc to the games shortcut and it'll enable Multicore mode. Should be night and day for those who find it slow.

What graphics cards/system specs are people running and how does it perform for you?

Thinking its finally an excuse to upgrade the socket 939 4600.

I'm running an HD4890 on a Q9550 with 4GB memory and it runs pretty good fps wise. I AM getting a wee bit of mouse lag though, but I have everything maxed...I could turn a few things down i guess.

That said it IS beta
