Ok premise is maybe the wrong word.....maybe the punchline that everyone sees coming....as in all that effort for Phantom Menace.

You could have gone the Machete order - 4, 5, 2, 3, 6. It works super well. 4-6 are Lukes story, mirrored by 2-3+6 being Anakins. Watching this way you still keep the surprise intact (because you don't ruin who Darth Vadar is with the prequels), you get the Frozen in Carbonite cliff-hanger, and the mirroring of the journeys the two protagonists take is much more apparent. 2 and 3 basically become a mid-series flash-back explaining just how Luke's dad got all fucked up, right after you learn who he is.

Super best part? Basically removes Jar Jar entirely. There is no point in watching 1 at all, nothing in that movie is necessary to jump right into 2 if you've already seen 4 and 5, and some things are more consistent by its removal (Obi Wan now walkways has a beard, Anakin only ever wears black).

Volver. Ostensibly a ghost story, but it is really a beautiful drama revolving around some ugly sexual abuses.

Best movie I've seen in a while. Not a by-the-book chick flick, not by a long shot, but it is the exact opposite of an action movie. You can see Chekhov's gun all over this though. The real kicker is the identity of the father of Paula, the daughter to Penélope Cruz's character.

Interesting.. Do you ever see Qui-Gon's ghost? Can't recall if that's anywhere in the remasters.
Pretty sure it's just Hayden Christensen at the end of Jedi, eh.

I'll have to check the BR of EPI - but his voice is in either II or III - either when he smotes the Sand People or the Youngling purge.

Isn't Reacher some ex-marine or something?
(been a while since I read the books)

Cruise is too damn short to MAKE the Marines.....
Damn Hollywood, never an accurate portrayal of actual life!

hoyts>event as a general rule (bigger seats, better setup, you can take beer in.)

also hoyts gold class lets you just buy the seat without all the other stuff (food delivery etc). think its about $20 per seat.

downside is they are only in slyvia park and somewhere out east I think?

Its been about a year and a half since I went there, but Hoyts Sylvia Park was the best cinema I'd been to at the time. Pro seats, great screen, tons of parking, right by the motorway on/off ramp in Mt Wellington.

Project X. Alright first act, second act picked up, horribly boring climax and finished feeling really let down.

Project X. Masturbation.

np, and don't thank me, thank Liam "I will find you, and I will kill you" Neeson.

Late to the Prometheus party, but by god IMO it is by far the WORST Ridley Scott movie. Some things are better never than late.

AND HE IS MAKING A BLADE RUNNER SEQUEL/PREQUEL. Haven't you ruin enough of your legacy already??? I guess his retirement fund really needed the money.

Soz Bob, missed this. Been watching the machete order with the missus (shes only seen the prequels?!? Things you find out after the wedding...), but it's been super slow going as I've been working late and we're only up to half way through Empire. That link to the guy who popularized the order said he'd watched it with SW virgins (kekeke....) who had zero issue following, so I think if Qui Gon shows up, it's obvious enough who he was.

Look it's my first time right, it's become apparent I didn't do thorough due diligence before we wed.

How much did I fuck up? She hadn't seen any Monty Python movies. I didn't know it was physically possible to get to 28 without seeing the Life of Brian. (we've since fixed this with some studious movie watching sessions).
