I'm more psyched for apparently-rumored chic-spendibles spin-off. Imagine the potential!
Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton, Carrie Fishers still around I think, Uma Therman (so I guess Daryl Hannah, Lucy Lu, Vivica Fox), Carrie-Anne Moss, Jeniffer Garner. I'm blanking but the must be a tonne more...

Lol, Carrie Fisher? Seriously?
Hey, I've got an idea for the title: instead of The Expendables, it can be The Menopausals.

Why could she not play the evil villainess mastermind? Ordering around her minions. (also, I forgot Michelle Rodriguez and Milla Jovovich)

Finally watched Prometheus. Good effects but shit plot and stupid 1 dimensional actors, except David that is.
This afternoon I shall put the fire on and watch Zulu and drink whiskey, at least that is a good movie. |

Watched Dark Knight Returns Pt1 last Night. Really good watch - probably one of my more fav Batman films

Fucken MiB3 was bloody horrible. I could only just watch through it all.
It just felt wrong, the whole way through. Only redeeming feature was the guy who played younger "K", he just nailed Tommy Lee Jones character to a T. /edit. Also re the new Robocop, there's no way in hell it could ever match up to the original, I'll put money on it. It does have some big stars but, nah, Paul Verhovens version is just beautifully brutal. Prometheus is "good" (read: critic good) because it was supposedly one of the best uses of 3D yet, during the dust hologram scenes. According to some making of thing I watched.

I didn't think Prometheus that bad, i mean, yea, some things didn't make a lot of sense and the whole, 'hey, look, aliens, DO YOU SEE?!' made me twitch. Taking off the helmets? lol.
But was alright, just kind of filled in the a few bits myself, and all good. |
17th September 2012, 10:14 | #2221 |
|
Yeah, I filled in bits and pieces by imagining I was watching a better movie, and pretending that I was torrenting it rather than watching it in the cinema.
By that point Prometheus was all good. |

Oh great - I really should vet the wifes Mighty Ape reorders then. Should have put my foot down after Ghost Rider 3D turned up. It appears both MIB3 and Prometheus are in the queue.

Prometheus was fucking awful. Only redeemed by the fine pair of pins that are the legs of Noomi Rapace.

I'll pretty much watch anything with Michael Fassbender in it. But even as a scifi geek I have not yet seen Prometheus because it just doesn't sound that good.

Not sure if spoiler tags are necessary or not ...
Must admit, I enjoyed it purely from a seeing-the-beginnings-of-face-huggers-and-aliens point of view. As others have mentioned, Michael seemed to be the only character with any depth; liked how they showed him learning human traits and trying to become more human during the flight there. Not entirely sure why a) he was so keen to push through and awaken the last remaining engineer, or b) why the awakened engineer was so emo and angus when he woke up, and decided to roflstomp them all. Maybe the version I saw was missing sub titles when Michael tried to speak to him?
I'm a huge fan of the Alien series, even the shitty later attempts, so I enjoyed the various salutes and pointers to the future events in the series. I don't really go into a big sci fi movie looking for plot holes and deep thoughtful scripts; I'm generally there to see awesome special effects, big explosions, hot wimmens in tight clothing, and some aliens rampaging all over the place. This movie delivered most of that |

Fasswang is fucking awesome in every single thing I've seen him in. But even Fasswang could not get the bad taste of Prometheus out of my mouth.
It was just like...what the fuck? How do you pay a trillion dollars and end up with the most bumbling and inept team of scientists ever? Did they recruit them from a post on /b/? Special effects were awesome though. |

I like Prometheus, but the bit I found hardest to understand was at the end where David was like "oh hi, btw I can work their ship, lets fly it!"...
Oh and also, how would the first Queen have been created if the first Alien that appeared was from a male engineer |

Damon Lemondork really did his homework on Prometheus. My favorite part was when Charlize Theron said they had traveled 500 million miles from Earth. ie: as far as Jupiter.

But anyway... There are some minor alterations I have no problem with. Colourising the lightsabres properly for example. Or removing the silly vaseline smudge under Luke's speeder. I agree with Mos Eisley being larger - after all, it is supposed to be a space port rather than a pathetic little outpost. On the other hand, it doesn't need to have stupid CG characters fighting each other (ecch).
