Personally, I'm sceptical as to just how bad the advertising will be. It would be a foolish idea to cover a user's vision completely with anything, even if it is semi-transparent. Technology is prone to failure. It would be a terrible story for Google if Sally, 34, mother of 2 and pregnant with #3 was to crash her car into an oncoming lorry because an ad for nappies accidentally blasted over her vision as she's driving past the supermarket. If Google is smart (unproven) they'll keep that shit very minimal. They'll probably have lameshit Facebook style notifications which punctuate useful notifications with bullshit ads.

I'm not even sure what Google Glasses would be useful for. The few seconds of video I bothered watching suggested: current time... okay, I'm not so spergy that I need to constantly know the time. Take video/photo... could be very useful if it could actually do it with decent quality (insert micro SD card behind ear!) but also extremely creepy. Oh yeah, it can tell you what the weather is like outside so that you'll know what the weather is like...when... when you're outside.

Even Google doesn't really even know what the fuck to do with the glasses. They're running a competition where people suggest things to use the glasses for because Google sure as fuck don't know. The prize? You get to be Glass for $1500!! Here's what I want to use the glasses for: facial recognition. When I can't remember the name of some asshole I was introduced to moments ago, Glass can tell me. Also, the ability to undress wimmen with the glasses, augmented reality style. "Okay glass, does this bitch got any nudes on the innernet?"
