Looks like BF1942 with updated graphics.
Awesome

BUT.. if you read the About it says "Play with 24 Players online in three beautiful and destructible locations"
Only 24? suckage.

Slightly OT.. but WTF happened to that 3erd person cartoonie BF game they were making? I haven't heard or seen anything of that in ages.

Sweet!

TF2 is great but I miss vehicles. I hope they don't screw this up.

Awwww fuck yes.

The weeks worth of hours I lost playing the '42 demo on Wake Island alone.

My worry is that they'll EA'ize it and make loadouts and classes more like CoD 4 and CoD:world at war :/

secretly waits for the next eve of destruction and desert combat

There is one thing that will make or break this game.

Destroyers.

They need fully fledged naval equipment back in, that's what turned tides in 1942 and that's why WI/Iwo etc were so damn fun. I saw some carriers but couldn't see any AA guns on them or anything, not sure what the sunken ship was but it didn't look like it was a previously playable one.

I just really, really hope they put naval force back in.

Wow, PC, PS3 and 360.

Now if only cross plat gaming was more than just a marketing myth. Wonder what this is going to cost being a download rather than retail game.

I've heard $20USD being thrown around as a possible price. I'd pay that for Wake Island alone, the other two maps are nice bonuses.

Unlike previous Battlefield games, Pacific only has three unit classes: Infantry, Riflemen, and Scout. Gone are the Medics and Heavy weapons classes. Van dyke explained they wanted every class to be able to fight in every situation. Every class has weapons to fight against the biggest tanks and armor. I would like to have seen more classes with varied abilities and risks.

Also, players have auto-health and unlimited ammo. I find auto-health to be too simple and easy and unlimited ammo means players will be firing without thinking. That will probably mean no more knife fights.

Hot tip, 95% of gamers don't want a hardcore game. They just want to have fun.

It's a filler release until their next retail title (BFBC2), they won't want you to make a career out of playing it. BFBC was fine even though specifically for consoles, '43s changes can't really be blamed on 'console kiddies' but rather the developers idea of the market in general.

Their idea of unlimited ammo/less class definition is off putting but it's probably catering to those who want a quick nostalgic trip without a lot of hassle. It might be a little fun, who knows.

It looks like the carrier is static, as in BF2. Also the bombers don't look like they're manned: they're probably called by smoke or something and just fly over and drop bombs. All I see is infantry, tanks, jeeps, planes and some AA.

It looks pretty, but it's been consolified (consolidated?) No destroyers, battleships, subs, bombers, divebombers, torpedo bombers, halftracks, mobile artillery... all the stuff that made BF1942 so flexible and fun.

42 catered for noobs and pros alike without dumbing shit down. I lament the direction gaming is heading - we'll see pc gamers having to turn at gamepad speeds shortly...

The dev walk through on GT shows that while flying seems fine, the action on the ground didnt survive. Pitty really. If it was 1942 with a new engine id buy.

Does no one else think that only 24people 12 a side online is a large backwards step?
That one thing puts me right off.
I can't really enjoy one on linefps unless they have a min of 15 peeps a side.

More people = more chaos = more fun. But thats just me.
32player a side BF was just.. THE SHIT.

I would expect from a modern title at least 64players possible...

but they have no problems charging it at $100+, for what is essentially battlefield 1942 with a slightly better graphics system, less maps, and less classes. no thanks.

It's not a full priced title - it's a downloadable. They're saying $15-20 US.

And destructible environments. Why the fuck do people keep having to be reminded of this?

BF1942: hide in flimsy hut and survive carpet bombing
BF1943: hide in flimsy hut and be vaporised

Destructible environments usually take away from a game, not add to it.

What do you mean, "usually"?

Point is that 1943 will NOT be the same as 1942, regardless of whether you like destruction or not (not liking destruction, that doesn't making one bit of sense to me)

This whole thing is UT3 all over again. All UT3 had to be was UT2k4 with a new engine and a hover board, instead they fucked with the already working formula and ended up with a failed product.
