I played it a bit for that weekend and was wondering if anyone who'd played for a long while could comment on whether the free weekend was a tardfest due to all the free people playing, like I generally assumed everyone on a server with a ? icon at the scores was a free player but I can't really know!

Anyway yeah basically I'm wondering if the standard of play on the pub servers dropped during the free weekend or if the play on them was an indication of how it always is! Also in my limited time playing it seemed like most of the good ping servers to me were set to the capture points mode rather than steal plans mode or move crate mode. Is that common too or did lots of servers have gold rush just because it was a new map that weekend too? :P

Alot of servers would be playing the goldrush map because its a new map. And yes, people whith a question mark next to their name are people who havn't bothered setting up their avatar, and are most likely freeweekend noobs.

I didn't have a chance to play that weekend, so I don't know how the pubs were, but in general the play is average to good, its rare to get a server full of tards.

Goldrush was a new map so most of them would have been playing it most likely.

Also, it's usually better - first off you've got lots of newbies from the free weekend, but mostly you've go current players trying to get their fancy new medic achievements, so there's a lot of ass-tardery around at the moment.

Don't let it put you off - pub play isn't too bad, but it's lots more fun in a clan.

i heard telstraclear were going to have some new gaming servers with the release of their new website clearnet.co.nz , apparently if your with telstra for broadband they won't deduct usage on these gaming servers, i hope they host tf2 ones.

Although, its just going to be servers full of pyros for a while and I think going for the Pyro achievements might be more fun than the medic ones.

Have to admit though, its good to see the second class weapons/achievements released this quickly.
Wasn't expecting anything new for another 2 months or so.

Fuck i can't get that fucking 10 sentry gun kills in a row achievement. Fuck fuck fuck. I got up to 8/9 about 13 times now.

Most people get to smart to run into a gun about 10 times.

I find these new Achievements a bit dubious...

Dance Dance Immolation: Kill 3 enemies while they're taunting.

BarbeQueQ: Cause a dominated player to leave the server. <--- yeah right.

Got A Light?: Ignite an enemy Spy while he's flicking a cigarette. <- I haven't even seen this.

OMGWTFBBQ: Kill an enemy with a taunt <--- WTF is right...

Mostly yeah, but the Aussie ones are often cranking late into the morning, and sometimes during the day as well.

Yeah, the GP admin has been a bit slack in the last few months cycling the maps around to coincide with patch updates(meaning new maps) so people don't play on them that much. They do get played on, most days, but you're looking at 6pm-12am type buzz. IMO it's the best server to play on

Most people are on clearnetdeluxe these days from the looks of things.

there are other clearnetdeluxe servers that are populated, but those two are generally the busiest.
