Democracy doesn't work 101: Canadian opposition coalition to overthrow ruling party

Not quite US related, but still.

http://www.thestar.com/Article/546895

from SA:

Just 7 weeks after our federal election with the Conservatives maintaining power (though still a minority government) the 3 opposing parties have made a pact to form a coalition to overthrow the current Conservative government. By presenting a motion of no-confidence to the Governor General the coalition government would take over.

Naturally the Conservatives are suggesting this is an undemocratic move. Whether or not the House of Commons likes what the Conservatives are doing the Canadian citizens voted that way. If we end up having another election it'll most likely end the exact same way.

All this started after a statement from the Conservatives with no hint at economical stimulus or aid.

And now the Prime Minister is talking about suggesting the Governor General dissolve the government for another election. Presumably to (hopefully) secure a majority government and put aside all this coalition nonsense. An act which in itself is even more frightening and undemocratic than the coalition. Though he hasn't said for sure either way what he'll do the notion of dissolving the government (a request the Governor General can reject) shows his intention to govern without parliament.

The 163 seat coalition, which would put the Liberals as the pack leader with Dion as the proposed Prime Minister, wants to remove the Conservative minority of 143 seats as soon as next monday.

They should of signed up some of the other parties for confidence and supply.
Like they do here. Isn't that what partially happened to the first MMP government with National and NZ First.
