The USA has far better amusement parks than NZ. Household help is more affordable for the top 5% of salary earners. Malls have even more parking spaces free on a Sunday morning. On a standard globe the USA is drawn higher up than NZ.
There are many metrics across which the USA comes out on top of NZ. And, more seriously it would be better to ignore the uneducat/ed/able part of the population when making a lot of the comparisons that are made. Last edited by Golden Teapot : 16th January 2013 at 09:51. |

NZ has less people like GT, that in itself is a selling point.

Number one question I get asked by my Merkin work colleagues is "Why the hell did you move here?"
I tell them I wanted to do some good in a third world country. Now I can send them this article too.

the trouble is, GT, that your definition of "stupid people" in fact is "people that are not GT". you have a poor view of everyone in general - no doubt you will refute this, but your posts to date would indicate otherwise.

Vrtigo is pretty stupid, so it's natural that he feels resentful at GT pointing out the cold truth.

Meh I shouldn't have lumped GT in with poison - I'm pretty sure GT is honest in saying that intelligence is his primary indicator in judging people.
I'm full of fail at being witty at the moment. Pixie

Ar Que: Do you ever head down to Welly? I never go north of Auckland, and not even there often. My last visit was a year and a half ago.

Used to head to wellington at least annually for concerts and what not, with a few extra trips for work and then some for shits and giggles. i havn't been that far south in ages ~12mnths.
if there is one reason to visit whangarei, it's for the beaches. Don't get better than the east coast up here. |

My childhood trips up north were always to get onto dive boats at Tutukaka or Whitianga. We'd go to island beaches. I don't think I've ever been to a mainland beach up there, now I think about it. We went through Whangarei to get to the former though

I do struggle with the notion that a fringe group of people have the audacity to dictate what should and should not happen to the very best outdoor experiences that NZ has to offer. Really this situation here is no different to the sign near Ketetahi springs i.e. it's something to be ignored whilst smiling politely. |
