There's a secret government blacklist of nasty content that is illegal to view. Why is it illegal to view? Because it's on the blacklist, silly.

Someone at GENIOUS, INC. (aka the Australian federal government) has woken up to the fact that some of the websites on the blacklist might have gotten there by mistake. Did I say "woken up to"? I meant "got a public beating with the cluestick by Wikileaks". So the blacklist has to be audited.

But to look at things on the blacklist - even if it's to check that they're not there by mistake - is illegal. Because looking at things on the blacklist is illegal.

And the government can't require you to do something that's illegal. So the government can't legally get anyone to audit the blacklist. Because, etc etc.

So now the Australian government is looking at passing a special law to indemnify from prosecution the person who gets the job of auditing the blacklist.

It's like a Monty Python sketch, but paid for with my tax dollars.

edit: fuck that job tho... although you'd think the legit bad sites on the blacklist.. rather than blacklisting it they'd you know.. try to bust those people who are serving it (child porn etc.) although then they'd probably go after the pro abortion and religious websites... goddamnit Australia.

As much as I hate to do this, I think you'll find that he's right. It's not him that's the problem with R18+ rating. Ab needs to go and sort out a certain Attorney General in his state...
