Yvonne D'Arcy wins fight to have BRCA1 ("breast cancer gene") patent bid rejected
D'Arcy, 69, has fought two breast cancer diagnoses and one cervical cancer diagnosis.
D'Arcy agreed taking on the corporation had been a David and Goliath battle, but said she never considered ditching the case because she knew she was in the right.
"I'm only a little person - but it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."

Good work, and thankfully the Australian High Court saw sense.
And luckily it happened before the TPPA. No doubt if this happened after, Oz would have been sued by the company.

Mangawhai man's act of kindness after discovering a stranger asleep on his couch

Quote:
Pryor isn't sure how long he let the man sleep — perhaps 45 minutes, perhaps double that.

Eventually, he tapped the man on the shoulder and asked if he wanted coffee.

"He said 'that'd be good, cheers', so I said to him 'there's the f***en jug, you get over there and sort it out because you've had a free night's kip and I'm not making you coffee. You get up there and help yourself'."

Could someone please buy Ross Taylor all of the beer.
And some ice.

I don't remember ever seeing someone play in that condition, unbelievable innings.

Great game. Rosco for PM. Plus, besides a bazillion beers, why didn't they carry him off like Smithy said!?

"Mr Lewis saw what was happening and lunged to grab his son, but his speed and weight carried the two of them over balcony, tumbling towards the concrete below.

During the fall, the brave father — a former army officer and deep-sea diver — pinned Oscar to his chest and curled around him, taking the full force of the impact on his head."

Buy that man a beer. Spots a baby (thought it was a doll) floating along in the water and pulls it out, turns out it was an 18 month old baby that wandered out of it's parents tent

(Idiot parents though)

They did good, but I fear there's a bigger issue here...

Hmmm... Chinese influence?

There's allegations of money changing hands in one of the linked articles. Seems likely even if there's no evidence.

The Chinese have been building/buying influence in the pacific for quite a while now. We just don't see examples of it in our NZ press.

...and the movies requiring quarantine exemption is:

Hollywood Reporter reported The Greatest Beer Run Ever was being directed by Oscar-winning director Peter Farrelly and is based on a book by Joanna Molloy and John Donohue. It is the true story of Donohue, who travelled from New York to Vietnam in 1967 to have a beer with childhood friends, in the army in Vietnam. Variety in June reported that Viggo Mortensen was in negotiations to star in it.

Filming in NZ.
