This happened on our flight to Dunedin on Thursday.

The beers are well deserved by A) Zoe, the flight attendant, and B) the woman sitting across the row from us, who was the one that did the compressions following the shock being administered.

There's a key fact missing from the story too - this being an ATR, there's only one flight attendant, and this was her very first solo-charge flight, so she had no one familiar to turn to for help or support (naturally, several of the passengers made sure she was ok once the ambo's (and airport fire suppression, and life flight guys from across the tarmac) had all arrived).

So glad it didn't happen 10 minutes later, when we would have been in the air.

Two Rotorua brothers are to be commended for an act of bravery after risking their lives to pull a boy from a blazing, smoke-filled home.

Henare, 22, and Wiremu Ropata, 18, crawled under dense smoke to reach the boy who was "yelling and screaming" and banging on the walls of the burning Clayton Rd home in the early hours of April 4. The boy's mother, Deena Christa Borrell, 32, died in the fire, which investigators said was probably caused by smoking in bed.

Inc beer.

Oh yeah, that's cool. I saw the news when they first reported this, but I don't remember the ages being mentioned. They're pretty young.

Although, first aid training probably wouldn't be amiss either. Leave them arrows in if you don't want to bleed to death!

Are they like Rascals? We do a little bit of business over there, and one of my chaps was all keen to go - especially if he was allowed a side arm. Yeah, maybe not...

'sif he'd be allowed off compound!

I live in Stanmore bay - and you'd have to be pretty determined to get out far enough to get the water up to the roof line, especially for a 4WD. As if, I dunno, it was on purpose or something. JUST SAYIN'

Buy this truckie a beer

I'll just park my truck halfway across SH1 and save this child from being spread too thin.

This gave me the shivers. I used to drive that piece of road twice a day, and despite it being a 50 k zone drivers are blinkered and aggressive all the way along. The kid would have been toast.
