As I said keyboard warrior, never done it, not likely to. Just self preservation doesn't strike me as heroic, I think if someone dropped a grenade in on me in a small enclosed space i'd be looking to get rid of it regardless of if other people were there or not.

Just my viewpoint on it, I wouldn't put him in the same category as some of the other people mentioned in this thread.

In my eyes, that guy is the man. If I had a live grenade in front of me with others near by one of two things will happen:

* I will die running away because the 'nade has cooked too long and the shrapnel will get me
* I could pick it up and throw it back and hope it won't kill me

Either way, that guy had balls of steel. I guess if I was in that situation I would probably try and throw it back because I might die if I don't and I surely would die if it went off in my hand.

Here's my take on this

* I will not die running away because the 'nade has cooked way too long and the shrapnel will not get me

In other words - both involve my running and probably getting a sub 10second 100metres doing in.

None of the options involve me sticking around !!

And that's why these guys are fekin heroes, and I'm behind a keyboard typing about it.
