This budget is a total failure, nowhere does it mention funding for rape crisis centres.

Hey, but at least they didn't do anything drastic like cause inconvenience to those trying to get their full inheritance due to the ill timing of their parent's passing.

Well I see what everyone will pick up from the opposition about the budget.

"Little has just accidentally referred to Jean Harris, a marketing manager, as Gene Simmons (the lead singer in Kiss). Little corrects himself but the Government benches have erupted in laughter and the House has lost the plot."

Right now the Labour Party is yearning for a return to the slick, articulate, and charismatic oratory of David Shearer.

"We don't want some gender reassignment fuckup! The Government has to be STRAIGHT with New Zealand!"

*looks at the dropped jaws on the rainbow benches*

"What?"

I wonder how the public would react to the opposition saying "this budget is good but it doesn't go as far as we'd like, when we're in power we'll push it further"

I actually do.

Nationals somewhat of an ideological shift here is a good political move in the short-term; though I wonder if there's a good chunk of traditional National supporters than will be pissed off at what they've normalised? Whenever the public again gets to the stage of 'I think it's time to give the other guys a go', imo it's going to be a lot easy for Labour to introduce new taxes and spend it on things like welfare. Because that's just what governments in New Zealand do.

Ive said it before and I will say it again.

I would love to see a view of all the different income sources (Paye, GST, Petrol Tax, etc, etc, etc).
And show how that money in broken down.

Im happy for the new airport tax if it helps with the customs & biosecurity, but not if it means that they remove normal funding just to add this new funding.
And how much of Petrol Tax & RUC etc are used on the roads and how much is funnelled as where.

This is not just a National issue, this should be done by all Governments and all councils

Yeah, I worded that first sentence poorly.
I was meant to say and see how the expenditure of that money is broken down.
I knew the income would be there somewhere.
