Thanks to the people who suggested shows for me.
30 Rock is not really what I'm after [Might be because I utterly detest Tina Fey]. But my wife didn't really like it either, just seems really light on... well, everything that isn't a shallow gag without any hint of subtlety. It's just you're average sitcom. Looking for shows with bit more drama I think. Something with cliff-hangers that will suck you in etc. However Veronica Mars looks very promising. Good characters, some subtly comedy and some not so subtle, some drama mixed in. Looks good so far, only one ep watched so far though. Now if only "[isoHunt] Veronica Mars Season 1.torrent" would go faster than 2 kb/s. Anyone got a better idea? |

Man, I got the whole first season of Breaking Bad because of recommendations in this thread, and boy is that some depressing watching.
I think it just comes down to taste, because I can't criticise the production values at all....however I don't think the acting is that great, the main guy in particular seems pretty bland and uninteresting. The chemistry between him and his cohort is fairly non-existent and their relationship hasn't developed whatsoever. The situations themselves are way outside what you'd expect to see in a regular TV show, and the storyline itself has potential, and for that I applaud it, but the approach, to me, is just really unappealing. That said, I've only watched 3 - 4 episodes so far, but I honestly have no motivation to watch the rest, given that I'm more or less 50% of the way through and there are no signs it's going to improve. |

That's unfortunate dylan, I rate Breaking Bad to the max. It might not be quite on the same level as Deadwood, The Wire etc. but season two is looking to be rather good.

Don't suppose I could get anyone in Auck's to burn me the wire season 5 on dvd? Happy to pick it up and replace the dvd, or fast cheque a few bucks for the cd and postage.
I'm hitting my cap way too fast, and the vid store doesn't have season 5 and its 5 gigs on legal download, so if someone could lend it to me that'd be awesome. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. |

I've got to say I completely agree with dylans post.
I tried it because of the mention in this thread and found it thin and depressing. Seems to me like a great idea that just doesn't deliver. With this one though I agree that it must be a taste thing because at first it seems great but I just lost interest really fast and can't force myself to watch any more than the first few episodes. |

This weeks Simpsons episode was surprisingly good, given the poor quality of the last decade or so.

Anyone still watching Sarah Conner chronicles?
Its pace has slowed down heaps (not that it was that fast in the first place) but I'm still enjoying it. I have a feeling it won't be getting a Season 3 though. |

I am but it's a struggle I tell ya. It's gone fucking troppo so many times. They try so hard on the drama (and fail) when it should be an action series.
I think I read it's shedding viewers, so yeah, unlikely to carry on. A good thing really (it finishing). edit: Speaking of slow paced, but somewhat more interesting drama wise, checkout the Red Riding Trilogy from UK TV atm. Not bad. (probably not to everyone's taste though) Last edited by ZoSo : 23rd March 2009 at 17:42. |

I still watch it, I find it ok, I look forward to it every week! They just need to step up the action a little more. John crying like a bitch was a bit much! I hurt my man-feelings.
I just want to see Summer Glau in her undies some more. God Damnit. |

Anyone watching Kings?
It's essentially a 'what if' America was run by a monarchy.
