At least when running a business you can choose to either not work with, or charge arsehole tax to the cunty ones.
If you're working for other people you still get the cunty ones, just less freedom to tell them to get stuffed.

My experience is that an employer is less likely to say "hey, all that work you've done this month, we'll fix you up for that in a couple of months, mmmkay?" Or even just stop answering correspondence and not pay. That's something that I am still getting used to.

But I was at MHG and VIG's school prizegiving this afternoon, 2.20pm on a Friday. I have missed only one kids' thing in recent memory because I had to work. My choice.

Left the last full time role 3 years to the day after starting with them after some usual big corp bullshit. Had a month break, then took a two month contract helping to push a domain server migration through. Left at the end of the contract, and started a new full time role with an MSP last week. New company is wicked so far, great team, great location, great manager; long may it last

I have found it to be so, YMMV. I had a great opportunity presented to me in terms of a fixed term 12 month contract in 2011; literally doubled my salary, and haven't looked back since.
