I remember people in DAOC clamoring for this for years - should be interesting.
Age of Conan's supposed to have it in as well. |

Maybe they'll have Asia Pacific servers in Australia so it'll be "lag free" for this sort of thing
doubt it though. |

Guild Wars.
Already done. Years ago. Just cause WOW doesn't do it, doesn't mean that their idea is brand new.

PS. I doubt if I'll ever play this game. It's got some nice features but the overall just doesn't do anything for me. |

Mythic have said there will be no form of stealth in Warhammer. Guessing they have learnt from previous griefing encounters?

It needs to apply to your own faction for maximum entertainment/griefing purposes imo.

Hehe, reminds me of WoW at Xmas time with those snowballs that had a knockback effect. Endless hours of fun on the Alliance base's bridge in AV.

Every time I read about an exciting PvP feature in WAR I still feel a little sad that they're going the instanced route

RvR = Realm Vs Realm. PvP on a bigger scale.
DAoC was Mythic's previous MMO, where the only instanced content was PvE (And in fact, for a long time there was no instanced anything). If all you've ever played is WoW then instanced PvP won't be a surprise, but capped numbers, set groups, taking one of a THOUSAND identical objectives, it just makes it all meaningless. There's nothing quite like holding off a force twice your number by a gritty hour-long keep defense with reinforcements swarming in from all over. WAR's most important objectives will be instanced. Hence, all PvP of note will be instanced.

Yeah. what A Corpse said - plus instancing and forced balanced sides means waiting in a queue to PvP.

My initial objection to jumping to WH when its out is PvP. So are you telling me that pvp in WH is completely and ONLY instancing? IE so questing out in the general world will be fine or like wow will that depend on the zones. I haven't looked into WH at all so I don't know. C |

I don't see how they can get away with non instanced RvR unless they have some amazing new code, even Carmack would be proud of.
WoW/WH aren't exactly DAoC, graphically. If you rolled back to the old TM <-> South Shore, pre-battleground battles, on current WoW code, it would still choke. |

Nah it's not only instanced.
There's instanced and world objectives, but the instanced ones weigh more heavily to the goals required to assaulting the enemy capital. It's possible to achieve that without taking any world RvR objectives. Since the major objectives are instanced, and the rewards are greater as a result, world PvP will only be for the soloers and griefers. Above comment may contain more than a small amount of pessimism. Do not exceed recommended dosage. See your medical professional if desire to play W.A.R. persists.

daoc died for me could be blamed on lack of pvp instance. I played albion on palomides and was most popular team so pvp consisted of 100 albions vs 20 hib/mid guys just a big massive fucking zerg that wiped floor with them in 2secs pretty boring. think most of the nz'ers who played were midguard on that realm.
Even though I used to duo for 99% of the time it ended up everyone basically had to travel in a pack and it just become more numbers win. Loved daoc small encounter pvp, 2-8 per side sorta numbers were fun fights that could last for quite a while back and forth sorta thing. edit: i guess one thing warhammer will have over daoc is you'll know pretty early on realm numbers since pvp from outset. I think you basically solo'd to lvl50 in daoc and then started pvp and found out ohh fuck we have 10* thier number |

Back when I had toons on Eonar I had my HS set to Ashenvale because it would get attacked by horde pretty much every day. Just can't be bothered with BGS - they're pointless and not fun. |

I agree they're more or less pointless, but I disagree that they are not fun.
I have plenty of fun on AB or EotS. Fun is subjective. Just because you are jaded now doesn't mean all are.

instances are there for people who dont have much time to wander around....I always preferred roaming pvp aka Emain from daoc days......theres a simple solution to instances really...if you dont like them, dont use them.

I do like this comment I read somewhere
Quote:
Though other comments I've read also imply that that diagram above will not work too well, as the healers have to be up and hitting people in order to be able to heal. |

I'm just curious how they are dealing with healing at all, given the lack of a dedicated healer.
Are all the characters expected to carry 'mega ultra pots of healing' ? Or some form of bandaging system ? Has anyone seen this explained anywhere ? |
