Not trying to argue with you, but Christians consider "His" name to be a proper noun. When they name "God", they're calling him by his name as they see it, making it a proper noun in Christian literature, hence the capitalisation.

I am okay with the capitalisation of the word "God" (as in "God said this") as opposed to "a god" or "christian god" (as in "the christian god is known as God" or "christians only have one god").
I am fairly sure that capitalising "He" is a respect thing rather than "God's other names are 'He' and 'His'", but what do I know, its been years since I was at school

Yep, the "He" part of it is purely a respect thing. Any reference to "a" (indefinite article) god, as opposed to "the God" (definite article) shouldn't be capitalised, as its a common noun.
