Performance plans which take hours to actually complete - why is it that people seem to assume that the more complex the system is the better it is? I don't want to spend 3 hours dicking round filling out competencies which have no relation to what I do here (or will ever do here). Making it this convoluted and complex just puts me off being proactive and trying to do better.

Edit - and HR saying "read the documents on completing your performance plan" - I had already, if I hadn't I wouldn't have been contacting you guys for direction.

Yep that was my thought exactly. I just ended up highlighting everything I could - basically says to management "see I'm perfect already - now stop wasting my time and let me get on with my work (which you still haven't organised a back up for)".

Honestly though - I pride myself on being quite literate and relativley intelligent (at times) and the entire thing (performance plan and the guidance material) might as well have been writting in Greek for all the sense it made to me.

Drivers who don't accelerate to the speed limit when they hit the on ramp - instead opting to barely speed up at all despite holding up cars behind them and making it pretty unsafe when a handful of cars are trying to merge with traffic going 30km/h faster than them.

Seriously, on-ramps need a special speed limit sign that also says INCREASE SPEED NOW

I was thinking the same thing yesterday and today. Tristram Ave on-ramp on SH1 in Aucks is especially shit for this. The sign should say "INCREASE SPEED NOW DUMB MOTHERFUCKER!"

Drivers who totally IGNORE the fact that a two lane roundabout is exactly that, 2 fucking lanes. The white line? Yeah you're not supposed to cross over it dipshit, it doesn't mean start in the left hand lane, then be in the right hand lane halfway through the roundabout, then exit the roundabout in the left lane again.

The amount of near misses I've had both on two wheels and in four because of this is unbelievable, and apparently it doesn't matter what side of the tasman you're on.

So those of us coming down from higher floors end up stopping on level 2 every day, and no one is ever there.

Oh and the "no drinks on the stairs' rule means that people walk around with a coffee cup in their hand so they have an excuse to take the lift one floor.

Fucken A. I'm glad I no longer work in a building with an elevator (which is worth using).
My way of combating the people who try to rush on before people can exit was to basically beat them at their own game. As my floor would come closer I'd stand so close to the door that I could spring out as soon as the doors start opening. The narcissists would nearly get run over and would have a mighty surprised look on their faces. I'd give them a foul glare.

It was great.
