New Suicide Squad is vastly superior to the first release. Some good chuckle moments, great visuals, etc etc. 7/10 from me

This one is more comical, less dramatic. It's almost a satire.

I didn't realise Sylvester Stallone was King Shark. Kinda obvious now I know.

I really enjoyed The Suicide Squad. Gunn really has a way of pulling together casts that shouldn't work.

In other news, new Spidey teaser!

Mortal Kombat Legends - Battle of the Realms.

Utter nonsense and utterly stupid. At least it has a MK tourney though.

I started rewatching the first Act of Lynch’s Dune the other night. Only made it to Halleck and Paul sparring in the suits, but overwhelmingly during that brief watching my reaction was holy shit this looks and sounds amazing. The clunky prologue and the Emperor’s exposition and the made-up shit about sonic weapons, yeah, nah, but the way the movie looks and sounds? Incredible. So stylish.

And the main theme always gives me a boner. The fact that it now reminds me of Starcraft is icing on the cake.

Extended trailer for Dune
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBBenVUVpEs

Interestingly preview reviews are saying Amazing visuals, but only OK plot because of it being cut into two films - it ends just as it's getting started, and no one really gets a chance to do any stand-out performance as a result of that.

Shang-Chi is far better than I expected it to be. I wasn't familiar with the character or backstory etc. at all before going in. A bit dark in a lot of scenes (may have been specific to the cinema we visited), so was a bit hard keeping track in fights etc, but overall really enjoyed it.

7/10

was it released digitally yet? i assumed it was only in theatres, which would limit the availability

Just watched Life After the Navigator. It's a documentary largely about the main actor Joey Cramer and the struggles he faced, but also about the movie, how came to be and broke new ground. I remember being amazed by the spaceship, it was so cool.

It's very sad and sweet. Well worth watching. Like many I loved that movie as a kid, one of my most favourites.

That Daphne story had me in tears at the "bombing" part, then the rest of that story.... wow. Beautiful.

I really enjoyed The Kid Detective.

It's a kind of murder mystery. It's sad and dark, but really well done. I think the theme of the movie is revealed when Abe says "I'm struggling to come to terms with the difference with who I am in my head and who I really am." When Abe solves the case of Gracie, the town returns to what everyone imagines it to be. I thought Abe was a great character, lots of insight, capacity to self-reflect, but so much undeveloped potential. Perhaps a representation of the US as a whole.

I thought the movie ended perfectly.

Thumbs up

Dune is fantastic. Very... palpable.

The sound design was the best part. And Timothée Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson both were great at communicating a near constant state of pain or shock.

So much fun!

3 hours of Bond was good, effects and stunts what you would expect - especially with so much post production time available.

When Felix was in the water, and bleeding badly, I was sure there was going to be a shark...

3 hours, and aging bladder, a vodka martini and I still managed to hold on!

Oh yes please.

My first thought would have been not the best character to have used. But it makes sense, and the trailer looks awesome

Finally got around to seeing it: Agreed on all points.

I don't know why this movie got panned as bad as it did. My guess is people being expected to read subtitles and *SHOCK* a language other than English being spoken.

Yeah, it was good times.

Saw Dune yesterday.

Anticipation was huge I mean i’d only been waiting for this movie since I became a fan circa 1990.

I found myself constantly comparing it to the first movie and there were plenty of things I felt Lynch did better but reminded myself it’s not supposed to be a remake of that
