I thought security questions were a well known security flaw these days? Personal details in the age of social media offer access, not protection.
Right?

That's a good question. I think my bank account might still have them, oops.

I just treat those security questions as one-time pads and put random words in. Like,
what's your mother's maiden name? CORRECT HORSE BATTERY STAPLE Of course that means I have to secure the place where I'm recording all the answers. |

Yeah, I did something similar. This issue is remembering/documenting and that risk. There's always risk, it's just figuring out where to place it.

I failed the prompts a few months back for something very old - ended up with customers Service, and they reminded me that sometimes people don't leave the correct answers, but instead use a standard nonsense answer to all their questions - which made sense because even though I have a blended family, I'm pretty sure I know my eldest brothers name. And the name of the street I grew up on.
Yerp - too clever for myself that time. On another note, I certainly hope Mr Bennett's friendly IT staff at Fairfax (Do they still own Stuff?) smote his account and killed his device with fire after writing this. I have no doubt his machine and probably Google account are now pwned. Last edited by StN : 11th December 2019 at 17:57. |

Yep, we have that in our region too.
Basically anyone who owns private land can make a deal with Asahi, Nestle, Coca Cola, et al for them to extract ground water. And that is what has happened. A single property, lowering the water table for the area. |

Fucking madness. I can't help but think there are significant, complex, long term consequences to this kind of behaviour.

But the invisible hand! The market will provide! The environment is just an externality!
Australia is FUCKED. In a "Quantum of Solace" "The Water Knife" disaster slowly gaining momentum, entirely predictably the state of New South Wales is claiming rights to the water of the enormously important Murray River. Which is a problem for the state of South Australia which is where the Murray flows after leaving NSW. If NSW starts diverting that water to commercial interests upstream, a lot of South Australia dies. |

I was mostly puzzling why they only caught one person, the first article lacked detail. But after reading he had porn across numerous devices, I figure someone must have spotted it and reported him specifically.
I mean, I'd never heard about the guy before and I know child sex abuse is ubiquitous, so nothing else about the story was of interest to me.

No sorrow here. He basically bought and stripped companies to make money.
Which basically means he didn't care for workers. He cared for money. And this type of thing is my version of when a different ethnic/religion does something bad and everyones says the whole group is bad. It paints a picture of business people, the ones that live at the higher level, the ones that fall into the Trump camp. Dodgy as Fuck. |

I’ve never been able to work out how to remove a typo from a google search - eg mistype a street address and next time you’re searching for similar you’ll forever be presented with the wrong entry in the chrome address bar etc
It would seem removing it by tapping the x from safari search clears it from google.

My first experiences of a city covered in smoke and reducing visibility to about 1km when it was previously nearly to the horizon were kinda trippy.
Of course now I know why a lot of people wear those stupid-looking surgical masks on the street...

Guy mowing the neighbour’s lawns is singing in Maori ... that’s pretty awesome.
Now, although I’m not an expert in the matter I’ve heard a lot of drunk Maori singing having partaken in such events (more so as a young lad back in the day, sans the partaking part) and I reckon he’s drunk. Tis the season.

Tbf, the deep fake had been done on the already altered final footage.
It would be interesting to see what it would look like on the original. I think some of it they misjudged the age they were adjusting it too and they needed to be younger. But it does go to show that it didn't take much for it to look even better |

Now do it to some of the marquee "look at this awesome CGI young will smith" scenes in gemini man because ughhh that was jarring.
(and then delete it because gemini man was not. good.) |
