In one extreme, it is clearly the right thing to do:

EXTREME: the boyfriend is a douchebag who treats her like shit, and you, knight in shiny armour, comes and rescue her.

In the other extreme, it is clearly the wrong thing to do:

EXTREME: you lie and manipulate her in thinking her boyfriend is a douchebag and you are the knight in shiny armour.

Real life cases probably fall somewhere in between the two extremes, and between the clear right and clear wrong: the boyfriend isn't exact a douchebag, he goes MIA for a few days/few hours, the girl gets paranoid and thinks he is cheating on her, and you come around, didn't do anything about the paranoia, and make a move on her etc. etc.

TL;DR summary: I would say there is no hard and fast rule about whether it is ok to get someone's girl (or boy), it all depends on the specific details.

Pretty much. When I say I would have gone for another guys girl I don't mean that the guy should put on the Le Douché alter ego and sleaze his way in.
If you can manipulate the girl into your way then there's no point imo, she'll just be tag n' bag material. A woman of attraction doesn't succumb to the usual grinding and jagerbomb technique that's deployed by most broski's.
