This summer I've read The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton, and Solaris by Stanislaw Lem. Currently devouring Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett, which looks to be the precursor to a Pratchett binge.
The Luminaries was a bit of work, but such fantastic writing, well worth the effort. I was surprised how only a few clues gave away the age of Solaris. Very good in any case.

A big-question short story by Steven Baxter: The Gravity Mine. Via way of Tom Scott's weekly newsletter (recommended!)

Anathem - Neal Stephenson
Excellent book, all about the nature of theory and knowledge. With a fun adventure to go along with it somehow. 😅 It's kind of meta at least at the start as the reader grapples with the language and ideas as the protagonist explains the struggle with language and ideas.

Bahaha just started reading this book. I’m only a couple of pages in and it reads almost as if it’s written by someone in our opposition as we’ve been super proactive with features on our website that they can’t keep up with.

I thought I had a phone-based attention deficit, but in fact, I needed reading glasses!.
So have ended working my way through all the Sharpes novels up to Assassin. Waterloo was cracking. Also read Mad Max Blood and Chrome, but wasn't a fan of the anecdotal style. |

Finished Space Odyssey: Stanley Kubrick, Arthur C. Clarke, and the Making of a Masterpiece and loved it. Much better than the cram-soundbites-together approach of the mad max book. Have to grab some Arthur C Clarke novels now.

I’ve got Mythos but not Heroes. Very good.
in a similar vein, I also strongly strongly recommend The God Beneath the Sea and The Golden Shadow by Leon Garfield and Edward Blishen, illustrated by Charles Keeping. STRONGLY. |

I got through two books on my recent roadtrip around the North Island.
"Time of Contempt" by Andrzej Sapkowski A great novel based in The Witcher universe. "So You've Been Publicly Shamed" by Jon Ronson Some fantastic investigative journalism, and a very well written book. Next will probably be some Dresden Files - I'm very behind on those.

Just finished Spearhead by Adam Makos. It's an account of an American and a German tanker who encounter each other in combat during the push to Berlin.
It's heavy content but a fairly light read. It's really good. Now I am looking a new sci-fi or cyberpunk novel, something fairly contemporary. I'm keen to read The Expanse series, but I feel the TV show is still too fresh in my mind.

lolz, aight, so I just did some searching myself, and I discover Neuromancer is the first in a trilogy, so I've got the rest of that to finish.
I also discovered another Gibson book I've read, Idoru, is the 2nd in a trilogy, but that's the only one I've read. I guess maybe I'll read the full series in a few years time once the details are fuzzier.

After gushing over Andor, I've picked up the 2015-2016 run of Vader comics. They're awesome. Some great original characters and a great story bridging some gaps in canon between IV and V.

I wonder if Google can tell what book I'm reading by the words I'm looking up...
I am currently reading Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson, and it's expanding my vocab more than a book has done in awhile. But I gotta think he's just trolling/showing off when he uses a word like "demesne", when he could just spell it the familiar way.
