I've had the same opinion of trump for a very long time. He's a crook, major bullshiter and fucks overs others majorly just to benefit himself.
Yeah nah you don't come across as a Trump apologist. I'm generalising about the usually white middle aged men who conflate a comparatively small group of woke uni students with the Democratic Party. Also their youtube echo chamber reinforces to them that Trump's no worse than Biden.

You might hear lines like - Trump has spoken out against white supremacists, the media just ignore it. Trump didn't mock that disabled guy, he's always talked with those hand gestures. Obama used the FBI to illegally spy on Trump. Late tem abortions!?! Clinton pedophile pizza secret symbols. Bill Gates forced sterilisation vaccination

My apologies for my poor comprehension.
I mistook your first line as meaning I was sick for saying someone needs to die for Trump to get it through his thick head.
I now realise you were talking about Trumps comments.

That's not something I could stand listening to.

I wonder, with the debates sidestepped is there going to be any significant likelihood he'll be put under any real pressure or scrutiny first hand until the election?

Seems pretty obvious to me Trump squirms any time he's questioned by someone who isn't a shill.

The outcome of the debate is largely dependent on the moderator. If the mod is not going to cut the mic when they overtalk each other, it's meaningless. It's less debate more primary school yelling match.

Agreed, I think after about 2010 his head disappeared so far up his arse he lost any sense of logic or reality.

Quote:
Adams states that being labelled a 'Donald Trump apologist' ended his public speaking career and reduced his income by about 40%.

On July 1, 2020, Adams predicted that Republicans would be hunted if Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election.

The sad thing is we all know that the next time that a nomination comes up so close to an election, and if it's a Democratic nomination and if the senate is republican, then they will stop it. And complain about it's too close.

But I did hear that if the Dems win and get the senate, there is nothing actually stopping them increasing the size of the SC (I think it can be 11 or 12), and then adding 2 left leaning judges.

Next trump prediction.
My assumption is he is not going to go away. 2024 will be about the kids. So trump will stay in play.

He is going to start blaming Biden when all these so called vaccines aren't around in January like he said they would be.

Rolling eyes

Just like Biden should have had a "nationwide mask mandate" in place to prevent coronavirus, despite Biden not being the president at the time he made that comment.

My guess is, once the transition between administrations is complete, the White House will completely ignore Trump. I doubt they'll even refer to the problems they're fixing as caused by Trump. They'll just be problems.

Trump will be quickly deplatformed, he'll vanish from the public sphere.

All the while, slowly but surely (and maybe not so slowly in some cases) various agencies and organisations will tear apart everything Trump for all the world to see. A message will be sent.

Remember Trump is a narcissist. What he desires more than anything is attention. There is a lot he can do in the next ten weeks to ensure he keeps receiving attention for years to come. Just think of his daily intelligence briefings; imagine him drip feeding every dodgy secret op on the books out through Twitter.

True, but he basically becomes a normal citizen after Jan, so he could possibly be arrested for doing something like that

After he leaves the White House (and he will in January, regardless of whether he wants to or not):

Quote:
Without Trump in office — or even in public life — it’s more than likely that these disparate groups fragment back into their own separate zones online. White nationalists, after all, can’t exist in the same movement as hardline pro-Israel activists. Anarcho-libertarians don’t naturally fit with more extreme evangelicals. And QAnon supporters can hardly stomach anyone reporting any unfavorable news about Trump, even if it’s from Newsmax.

I thought everyone was already in their own echo chamber? That quote seems to think we've yet to fragment. We're post-fragmentation.

And perhaps broaden their scope: white racists / anti-racists, proud boys / antifa, socialists / libertarians, yes mask / no mask, Biden won / Trump won, feminist / trans-rights, science is conclusive / science is a process. Everyone has their niche with it's own unhealthy tilt on the truth. All of them preaching to the choir, failing at every step to convince the other side of their shitty, adopted stance.

It's not that one side has bad ideas and if we fix them all will be good and we'll all think the same. It's the inability to accept someone has an opposing idea. Dispatch them quickly and lazily: "Oh, they're just a conspiracy theory nut.", "Oh, they're just racist.", "They're on the wrong side of history."

We've all got our own information bubble, it doesn't mean we can't account for this in how we understand the world and make decisions. Bias in of itself isn't unhealthy. Bias is very healthy in some regards, it tilts us towards our personal interests, pursuits, endows us with purpose.

Dialectics is one approach to this: thesis, antithesis, synthesis. It's just one skill in navigating a world of complex truths.

Navigating the complex truths of the contemporary world requires these kinds of insights. It's in the interest of some to deny people this capacity, to insist the world is comprised of simple truths and they're the one speaking them.

It's not a new phenomena by any means.

Agreed. But we'll never see New York Times put "but of course we'd say that because we're biased af" on their stories. I don't think there is any attempt to offset and account for biases. Business practice for news / social media appears to be: always pander, never challenge.

We as the consumers of this media will begin to think this is passable for critical thought. If the "top" journalists in the world are this lazy, well goshdarnit my opinions are virtually gold standard and as defensible as theirs.

2018: Trump creates The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and appoints Christopher Krebs as Director.

2020: Chris Krebs says the recent election is the most secure in American history.

So naturally, he was fired.

Yes and no. Al Jazeera consistently has guests that challenge the station's narrative, journalists do it too. A recently example was a journalist challenging the almost universal narrative that there was no evidence of election fraud in the US election. They corrected the anchor and said "for the sake of balanced reporting" that there was indeed evidence and cited some examples.

But really it's up to us. We need to do some of our own work digesting information. Ensure we have a diverse information diet to balance various perspectives. Pay close attention on reports that you have personal knowledge of, see how far off the mark they are.

Of course there are forces that seek to undermine our capacity to do this, and we must do what we can to resist these forces. But these forces aren't bad people working against good. There are all kinds of forces, some centred in us, some far greater than all of humanity.
