Maybe if the Herlad tells us enough times that we are depressed, we will become depressed... ?
Theres not going to be a depression. We have gone through it 4 other times. We are use to it.

Quarterfinal loss a 'blow to Kiwi tribe'

The All Blacks' ignominious defeat by the French has plunged New Zealand into mourning because our national psyche has been wounded, mental health experts say.

ahah :/

I can't stand the media hype anywhere... If a movie is pimped for 6 months before it's released, the chances are I won't go see it. If a game is given a frigging radio countdown for 3 months, then no i probably won't watch it.

I was actually more gutted when we got knocked out of the 20/20 cricket than I am about this one.

yeah - i doubt that there will be a depression/recession, the media hype will blow over & even die hard fanatics will reside in the fact that its just a game.

Also leaving finally will hopefully be the unrealistic expectation from the general public that the Allblacks are unbeatable & beyond the rest of the world. This sobering dose of 'professionalism' rugby reality is long overdue - it will probably make the Abs play better too!
(i do feel bad for the Abs thou - Rugby actually IS their life)

Yeah..because within 24 hours they have somehow managed to assess the entire countries state of mental health.

Today's daily roundup:

Quote:
We feel your pain
The All Blacks coaching staff and players are "grieving" after their shock exit from the World Cup and knowing the public are hurting too makes it worse
If you ever 'grieve' over a sporting event it's time to re-evaluate your life or work harder to find a life..

Quote:
the New Zealand Rugby Union today announced a review into the early departure from the tournament
Whoever is responsible for this must be brought to justice!

Dry your eyes soldier!!

We thought it was important that we come back as a team. Regardless of the outcome, we thought it was important we were united right to the end

'Smell of death' in All Blacks dressing room - Oliver
Anton Oliver reckoned the All Blacks dressing room had the same stench of death as a World War 1 battle field.
At a loss for words..

But the World Cup is the holy grail and they will forever be remembered as the coaches whose team failed to get past the quarterfinal.

BadNova: Don't read too much into that, honestly. Chances are the reporter lead him into that answer, hoping to get some sensationalism going on.

That's because TV3 is Tabloid McMedia. It's nothing to do with rugby.

I must confess, I'm not "ohgodpleaseletthepainstop" gutted like I was in 1999 and 2003. I'm disappointed, but hell... nothing in my day-to-day life has changed.

It is easier living in Adelaide, a town not known for its interest in rugby union.

Breaking News. People are upset.

They cant help that they are upset. Do you in some way feel superior because you are not upset by something that you never cared about to begin with ?.

I'm more poking fun at the over the top news than anything. I think the sensationalist reporting is what should spark an "Inquiry" not a rugby loss..

Untouchable, no it's not that some people are upset about it that irks me... Like I say, i was gutted when we didn't make the finals in the 20/20, but I don't think our national newspapers should make out like we all honestly believe that the sun won't come up if we don't bring home the cup.

There's no good way to lose. Factor X10 worse if we'd lost to SA in the final again.

After watching the NRL. Rugby is so painfully stop-start.

Losing to SA in the final would have been 9999999999999999 times better than this.

But still, moving on.

Oliver's been on a NZ military history binge lately, and had been reading on the topic and visiting WW1 battlefields while in France. I believe he was quoted as saying something like "blah blah blah the desolation and emptiness of No Man's Land... that's what it feels like to us here in the dressing room".

A quick rewriting for the McMedia: "LOSING THIS GAME OF RUGBY IS WORSE THAN FIGHTING AND DYING IN A WORLD WAR, NO HONESTLY IT IS, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT"

ive never understood the whole "we lost" "we could have played better" what we could have done" shit when it comes from people who arent actually on the team. whats this we white man? mr joe know it all on the street has diddly fuck to do with the all blacks except buying a tacky flag to put on his car. maybe people in NZ should stop trying to live viacriously through people they percieve as heroes or whatever. sure i was dissapointed about it but some peoples reactions, and especially the whole media BS, is just plain sad.
