Little bit of gear grind, little bit of gear oil and a little bit of referral code crap.

Tried Uber for first time last night. I'd waited 40 min for a taxi, including having chased up for "where the heck is the taxi" and it still didn't show.
Decided screw that and downloaded the Uber app to try.
roughly 2 min to type in my detail, then a 6-7 min wait, and I was in an Uber-X Toyota Camry in better condition than most taxi's I've been in.

Trip home by taxi at the cheapest I've had was $25.something (basically $26)

Trip by Uber-X cost $20, and other than entering the card as a one-off time on the app I didn't have to stuff around with payment when I arrived.

Fuck Taxis. Uber FTW.

A story:
Am... was a stoner. All day. every day. Decade of heavy use. Never thought much about it.
~6months ago. Decided to stop as my mental state was really becoming... erratic.

No more 420.

A few days after i was asked to take a drug test. Quizzed my direct manager several times about his insistence. Is this really what you want to do? The irony. Spurned the Weed-God.

Refused. Handed in my resignation. Effective immediately.

Career over. Went and drove tractors, toiled in the fields and watched my projects falter and fail. A lot of tears.

Time passed.

Ex-regional manager calls me in. Can't directly hire me due to....complications. I nearly laugh. Sub-contracted in, set up a wage and a vehicle use charge.

Effectively doubled my earnings and got a free vehicle.

Not even sure what i've been taught.

ESET's time to respond to submitted viruses: MINUTES. honestly, minutes. Confirmation email was sent back to me after 5 minutes stating that the signature will be added to the next AV DB. Forty minutes later it dropped from my desktop with a detection alert. This was for a virus that according to virustotal, none of the 57 scanners knew of it.

Symantec? 6 fucking days

Useless.

Feel conflicted about using fair trading act to try to get airnz to honor discounted excess bags they promised me in an email, when my flight said no extra bags when I booked it initially. I mean the email offering discounted excess bags seems tailored to me personally too. Just feel like a wanker barking up some poor call center kids tree.

You shouldn't feel conflicted about it if you feel you've been duped. Also skip the poor kid in the call centre because they can't help you - go straight up that tree to the team leader or service centre manager.

Thats nothing. I have overheard my colleague ringing and complaining about several stupid things which include
1 - Why a set of traffics lights were out and it caused a back up of traffic. He basically wanted a report of what happened and who did.
2 - That its against Human Rights that a bank offers under 30's an account that has no account fees
Also has complained to his mobile phone company & internet provider and others.

it does give us a few laughs.
