Natural Language Parsing is an acknowledged field of AI research, so actually they're right on this one. Siri is certainly a lot more fluid than the Google Voice Actions. No-one is saying anything about making your phone self-aware.

Siri is tied to the iPhone 4S hardware.

No iPhone 4S = No Siri. I've seen 'no Siri in NZ' mentioned and it's most likely a misunderstanding due to having no date for the 4S to come to NZ.

Going by pure speculation, I suspect the reason why Siri won't be available in NZ (at least initially anyway) is that Apple needs the backend support of various content providers and they might not have agreements done up yet with NZ providers or just can't be bothered putting up the necessary infrastructure yet.

IF Siri would work half as well in real life as it does in the videos, it'd be pretty special. But I will believe it when I see it.

Weird since Akamai has been serving Apple content for ages ... maybe since it requires feedback/integration etc? ... However Google still use akamai for this afaik, and no complaints of service....

There's no date. Quite frankly, I am hardpressed to see why anyone would want to upgrade from a 4 to 4S.

I agree. But there are still far too many people who do not have an iPhone.

On the plus side our seven year-old is getting a new current model 4 for xmas; the new price is just too tempting to pass on.

iPhones seem to hold their value pretty well so I'd probably only be spending a few hundred on a few things that I would like in a phone. The camera is the main thing, and then a beefier CPU for games and things like that.

The camera is the selling point for me though, I just love having something that takes quality photos (for me) within arm's reach 24/7. And I'm an Instagram whore.

Actually you are mistaken, this is not the default ringtone. It's just a ringtone that comes shipped with the devices. How dare they? (Wut?)

Sounds pretty good compared to other standard ringtones. It's even a "remix" of the old Nokia ringtone, so it's distinctly Nokia. Who cares?
