still trying to remember everything - but what are the now-must-have mods people use? Is rei's still the best mini-map? And I used to have a mod that if you highlighted a material while on a crafting table it would show you the recipe (and if you were missing anything)... can't remember its name though

I now have 3 double chests full of brick blocks. That's a bit over 10,000. Might go some way to providing for the railway bridge?
Also got sick of the rain again and built Danny Devito. It's smaller but it's still sexist. (Glass ceiling over my tower).

I'm addicted to watching hunger games style minecraft videos, I wish I could get into something like that just for a laugh with some mates but it seems like the best you can hope for in terms of pickup gameplay is a pay2win server :/

At a guess? Aleina did, as it looks like it started there.

Hey Cowboy, or Kaskade!
Or do you prefer to be called CowboySan and KaskadeNZ? A couple of the old-schoolers from WMS have asked about being whitelisted, as well as a couple of other friends. They're all skilled Minecrafters, and all decent respectful players: XarNZ teebeenz Freddy72NZ Jasen1 Would you be able to add them when you get the chance? Also, my home bed went missing a week or so ago, which I found out when I appeared back at spawn after getting killed. I checked the log and found: 09-01 11:09:32 ShadySituation destroyed bed block So that guy might be up to mischief. Do you know if he's a good player or not? Thanks in advance guys! This server is great fun : ) |

kaskade doesn't read NZG fyi.
Have added them to the whitelist. If I'm away, post whitelist adds up to the Orcon forums. That way kas or jimmy can also do it. If the greifing continues then I'll look at it. Probably just a noob that tried to sleep in it and broke it instead. Be a bit harsh to insta-ban for a minor event. If it happens again let me know. |

It's not what it looks like, I swear!
On another note though Cowboy, I've had more trouble of the destructive kind. All the windows of my mining fort were destroyed, with the following log entry: 09-06 15:12:51 PIMPSMOOTH destroyed thin glass Now, I have no right to complain about anything on a free server, but I would like to ask the question: What is the point in having a whitelist if there is no kind of barrier for entry? Especially in light of what happened with that Nefario character. I don't understand why he wasn't banned as soon as the TNT incident was revealed. His behaviour was entirely inexcusable. At any rate, in relation to my current problem, it takes willful intent to destroy every window of a construction, so unless you know PIMPSMOOTH personally, and he's previously been a constructive and friendly player who was just having a bad day, could you please blacklist him? I'm getting a little fed up with having to deal with these incidents : ( All the other folks on this server are such a good bunch that it seems a shame to let people like these guys ruin our fun. |
14th September 2012, 05:17 | #3776 |

Hey Cowboy,
PIMPSMOOTH has also dug through the wall beside the private door at the bottom of my mine, and just generally damaged the place. He's clearly breaking other people's stuff on purpose. I'll leave it up to your judgement. |

Ok, he's banned. The whitelist was actually put into place to stop a griefing clan that got our IP Address. We had loads of people join the server with the only intent to grief.
At least with the whitelist it means they have to sign up for a forum account and ask to be added. Most of them don't bother. I can roll back any damage anyway so it's not much of a problem. Don't want to make it too hard for people to join as then no one bothers. Let me, kas or jimmy know when you're both on and we can roll back the damage. Also we kind of know nefario and has been a trusted member for quite some time. Guess he just got bored of minecraft and decided to be a dick. He lost his (limited) mod powers and got a warning. Next time is a ban. We gave him a second chance. |

Hey Cowboy, the pick trick doesn't work for me in the End, and we had some vandalism there inc glowstone, glass and an ender chest destroyed. Can you make it so we can check? Even Kas couldn't do it I think.
Thanks.

Ok, so here goes my proposal for the mob trap and bridge, just a basic plan. Anything I've done here can be modified. I don't really care to much, you don't even have to use it if you want. Just putting forward my idea's
So I've based this off what some of people have built in the past. Where I have outlined 'trap' is just where I imagined how high the mob trap will be. I wasn't to sure If the trap would be above the player so I added a second line. Here I imagine the rail going straight through the middle of the buildings over the bridge. Maybe it could be an NPC village maybe? I'm not sure how you would stop them from escaping where the track would begin and end |

Gonna be in Auckland prob without Internet unless free wifi until fri. But keen to get the mob trap rail thing going or rolling...
Things to confirm/summarize up: A) Exact starting point of rail? ( around this area I'll or someone drop some vault chests for rail materials- mainly stone at this point) B) Main rail material? Cobblestone or Stone? C) 2/3 or 3/4 of the rail will be straight plain rail with archways below rail (or whatever happens?) you could post up your archway design? D) Someone or chocofish can start off the arch bridge design then it can be repeated by anyone who has time and resources? E) 1/3 or 1/4 near mob trap/viewing tower will have buildings with villagers with the rail going in between? Everyone could build their own buildings but be given a plot? F) Maybe we can use your clay bricks A_Corpse for the pathway around the mob trap? The mob trap could have nice garden areas surrounding (designs?) G) Whoever has the expertise to build internal mob trap can team lead and with group building I'm sure wont take long. Chocofish can help whoever group build with the exterior design of mob trap... H) Main mob trap material(s)? I) Thinking the mob trap will extend bout 3/4 up with view tower 1/4 and at the top? Thoughts and input please? |

Hi guys,
ChocoBunnyGirl has some good questions. Though I don't know much about the answers to thos questions, I have a few things to add: We can construct the functional parts of the bridge and the trap before we construct the aesthetic parts (such as the support pillars and arches of the bridge, and facade of the trap). All we need to figure out to get things underway are: 1) The material from which the bridge will be constructed. This decision is best left to someone like Cowcaddens or ChocoFish, who seem to have the most interesting ideas about bridge aesthetics. 2) The starting point of the bridge, as it will follow a perfect diagonal right up to the trap, and from the trap to the NZGames village, the route will be largely diagonal followed by a small orthogonal run. 3) The height above the water (I'd prefer this to be fairly low for safety (in case you fall off and need to get back up) and aesthetic purposes. My studies have indicated that a minimum clearance of three metres between the water surface and the rail is sufficient to avoid detonating swimming creepers. In order to leave room for the arches, while still remaining comparitively low, a clearance of five metres would be a good compromise: __________________________________ _,,_,,_,,_,,_,,_,,_,,_,,_ <-- rail [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] <-- bridge blocks /\ 4 metres clearance (5 metres including the bridge blocks) | \/ { }{ }{ }{ }{ }{ }{ }{ <-- water ___________________________________ 4) In terms of the starting point from the spawn end, I'd favour the tip of the peninsula to the right of Laura the Lovely's Castle, with a land-based bridge leading to it from the spawn point. I should add that I strongly recommend diagonal rail (in spite of the problem of needing straight powered rails), as diagonal travel is about 1.4 times faster than the equivalent straight travel. We need 1 booster every 52 blocks, according to: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Po...il#Optimal_Use What are your thoughts? |

The pouring rain kept me awake hence middle of the night writing.
Anyways totally agree -work out what works best and do the mechanics and functional parts of rail and mob trap. What do you mean Sliode by metres above water does it = blocks? |

I'm up to nearly 6 double chests of brick btw.
I figured that anyone who was travelling for speed would take the nether route. The bridge would be the scenic route for anyone not in a hurry.

In regards to the bridge/causeway, we can make emergency ladders on every second or third one so people don't vandalise things or build dirt steps to get back on it if they fall off or decide to have a look when boating past.

Hi this is Aleina. (For some reason I couldn't register). I see a spot for the trap will be kind of out from my place. It seems like it might be quite difficult to build a road diagonally. I don't mind if a road is made straight out from my east gate Or it could go straight out from the end of the jungle peninsular that is north of the nzgames settlement. There is already the jungle path that i made that could service the start of it.

whatever we decide, I say we stick to old faithful for the levels 22-32 above the player, nice and quick to do. eg this
and for lvls above this, switch to this, or the piston design, I think this design is better , doesnt need reset, and can wire it to turn it off if the water updates cause server lag. mob spawns, activates pad, lets water flow pushes them off. its 5 blocks high stackable, ive made this one with sticky pistons, i think ive seen it with normal ones, so I assume they have fixed the normal piston light leaking bug.

You can cause/stop water flows with dispensers now. Also, doesn't flowing water stop on pressure plates? Or is it flowing at head height over that arrangement? o.O
edit: Why the different systems for over level 32?

Diagonal road/rail: I don't like this idea if we're going to be building buildings off & over it, much cleaner to build against a horizontal or vertical. Arches & supports in the bridge are also easier to build.
Then again, diagonal rail is quicker in transit than square, and it could challenge the ol' creative juices a bit. ____ Proposed starting spot: http://games2.orcon.net.nz/?worldnam...6&y=64&z=-4560 and build out due West from there into the ocean. ____ I also recomment building the road/rail surface of 8 (at least - preferably more) above the water so we can do some nice looking arches - a gap of 4 just looks a bit stumpy, unless the arch itself is extended into the water, which is just odd.
