In 1997 I spent $550 on a video card with 4Mb of ram. Yesterday I spent $30 on a video card with 1Gb of ram. Mind blown.

For a similar reason I will be spending NZ$130 this weekend - (which is probably about the same in Oz monies), but for 2G card. And the same again for 4G of DDR2.

In 1993 I spent 6 times that for 1/1000 of the capacity RAM

At least it will get the boy off my office machine.

If you drag your bare heel along the concrete as you ride in the pouring rain, you don't graze away your flesh; instead your heel aquaplanes.

Bit of fun driving along Tamaki Drive this morning. Fortunately I had my buddy so managed to skip 30 minutes of the queue via the T2 lane and managed to get through before they closed the road.

Psychopaths: how can you spot one?

The article should be called "Books: how can you sell them?" Such a load of nonsense.

But it's 100% true what they said! There's screeds and screeds of trials, even clinical ones. I just can't provide any references or even tell you who was running the trial, or even the actual results of the trials.

*cough*

Actually, my favourite part is this:

So she's saying it can't be scientifically measured... pretty much because it's all hocus pocus BS.

You need to be careful when you hold-up scientific methodology as being good; this methodology as almost universally practiced requires ridicule of those with new ideas and the hiding of contra results. Further within human trials ethical constraints often prevent valid experiment from being conducted.

That's scientific bureaucracy and politics (and occasionally corruption, ie Andrew Wakefield); that's nothing to do with testing things via the scientific method - indeed the ridicule and result-hiding are rank contradiction of actually using the scientific method. Also in this case, many of the ailments that homeopathy advocates tout homeopathy as fixing could easily be tested in controlled trials without any ethical considerations coming in to play.

Im a complete car newbie. Need to get my oil changed and I've had the car for a year, so I'm booking in a service, oil/filter change, and to get them to check out one of the doors, as central locking isn't working on it..

What kinda price range would one expect that to cost?

Being fair, his 'running play commentary' is fine. It's when he offers commentary on an event that the hurting starts.

I was in ChCh hospital visiting my mum the week after that - as I stepped into the lift, his girlfriend was driving the wheelchair and almost jammed his foot in the door. She was berated by me accordingly.

Hopping over the line FTW.

Although that bit where he threw a hissy fit at the ref and almost walked off, then ended up skipping around in the in-goal area...

But totally redeemed when he was in the side line getting some attention under his body armour to a shoulder niggle and clearly declared "It's not fuckin' broken!" on Sky TV.

Even if he can't turn left.

What, because being a former All Black he doesn't know anything about rugby?

You haven't said what it is you don't like about his commentary, just that you don't like parts of it. So now I have to guess what you're on about and rather than asking you over and over and still getting a shit answer, I'm just throwing things out there.

Rolling eyes

I don't care if its not our database. The performance is shitty, there needs to be an index, so type the fucking command to add one. This is called "action".

We don't need to have a meeting, talk to cunts in vague terms so as not to offend or impart blame on any party for their incompetence, and then agree to come up with a plan to move forward, involving possibly a work around, maybe within the next few months. This is called "bollocks".

Trade Me automatically assumes when I search for "nord rack" that I meant "ford race" - while all this time it has given up on getting results if I spell a word wrong by one letter. Fail.
