Just completed a 3 day TechnoGrazing farming course on a bull/beef farm. I never saw myself as a farmer, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

"Graduation" assessment was to tie and then untie a knot in a live electric fence poly wire to a spool in a puddle in long wet grass (*crack* ... *crack*). I represented IT nerds and completed the task with only a couple of swears - 2 out of the 9 actual farmers simply refused to do it!

There was a whole lot of pasture management theory as well as stock handling. I can't say that after 3 days I know everything about farming, but I did gain an appreciation and respect for farmers/farming. It was certainly much more fun than working for a government department sitting in meetings wasting time, although there was still a lot of bull shit.
