Does anyone else get the feeling of an increasing festive air of the holiday working period? (work weeks leading up to and around Christmas)

People are starting to talk about their holiday plans starting mid-december (I'm working all the way up to and including new years eve and then will be back on the first day after new years ).

It feels as though the festive mood is setting in and productivity and efficiency slowly decreasing.

I like working the last few days up to Christmas sometimes. It's really cruisy and quiet and everyone is in a good and playful mood.

Ask me again after the Christmas brownouts kick in - right now it's crunch time with everyone wanting to get their things done before the holidays.

I just noticed that the new telecom logo looks exactly like part of the logo and the favicon that Meteor (Irish mobile phone provider) uses, as seen here - http://www.meteor.ie/

It's also the avatar that the mods on their forum use, http://forums.meteor.ie/index.php?showuser=2

Other than the fact it's a 6-pointed asterisk, it's not that similar. It's a different colour, different style, and used in a different way than the meteor one

Really it just shows how fucking generic and meaningless the new logo is.

A total douche speaks:

From the comments section of Stuff's review of last night's Pearl Jam concert:

"I'm the ginger cornrows guy that dominated the moshpit. i havent moshed that hard for ages - youse put up some good moshes but as always i won. wished i had paid a bit more attention to the songs though, some sounds ok. wyatt420"

GINGER CORNROWS? Why go to a concert you've been waiting 11 years for just to bounce around hitting people and not hear the songs? *facepalm*

Tiger Woods seriously injured in car crash:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/11/27/tiger.woods/index.html

So over the past couple of days info has been leaking that Woods is a cheating dirtbag, and then he pulls out of his driveway at 230am and crashes into a fire hydrant? Coincidence or conspiracy? Still, hope the guy isn't as badly hurt as all that.

I currently have a cannula in my arm, and am doing food testing for Auckland Uni. I wasn't concerned until I found out that their client is Fonterra........

It's not like a hot spouse has ever stopped someone from cheating. The story has been doing the rounds in the gossip world for the past couple of days.

Well, I think its a truism that affairs don't result in marriage breakdown, marriage breakdown result in affairs. Unless you're married to a psychopath.

So where do people torrent nowadays? I find that TPB has the most inefficient search, and it's incredibly slow in queries (maybe since being bought out?).

Torrenting seems to be pretty shaky for the time being. I don't have any idea how these magnet link thingees work yet. Might have to fall back to Usenet for the time being.

One thing I know, in my mind I have solidly concluded that it is immoral to pay for media with how the industry in the state it's currently in. I steadfastly refuse to support it.

I think the new Mininova is the seed for how the new industry is going to end up, once the current industry inevitably collapses.

Mainly at specialty sites - HongFire for anime, EZTV for TV, Mininova for music, etc... But usually only when I can't find it on RapidShare.

Good luck with that.

I've switched to ahashare + piratebay, but mininova was the best for new stuff + decent(ish) comments sections for quality ratings. Dam shame.

i just use torrentz.com for everything. it seems to search all the major torrent sites and gives you a solid result for just about any "linux iso's" you might need.

Linux isos? I download TV shows recently aired and movies that have been released on DVD/Bluray. I mean, what's my alternative? Pay for DVDs that provide a significantly inferior product/service and support an industry I think is immoral?

I know. I was suggesting we're beyond using codes, that there is a legitimate and moral reason for downloading media you haven't paid for.

What? How do you translate what I said into being a dick? I certainly wasn't trying to being a dick. I was just making a point about being open about what we are all actually torrenting.

Hey, I'm just trying to be an adult, if being an adult means being a dick to you, well there's nothing I can do about that.
