Over the last decade or so I'd get one or two sessions of tachycardia a year. Recently that's gone to two a month with afib. Yesterday I had two in a day.

Presented at a+e and instead of the usual near instant button push and in to a bed I get to wait. First trip I waited 30 mins and my heart had settled down. From experience I went fuck this I'm outta here

Then it happened again at midnight last night so figured this time I better wait it out at the hospital. The waiting in a+e is like water torture. Bright lights. Doors opening n closing with a loud metallic slam on the security mag clamps that shock you out of any sleep that you might have started falling in to along with a sudden concern that you be might triggered off into another episode. Short seats that you can't lean back in. The inevitable sick people around you in probably a worse state of health that yourself. People coming and going that have just tested positive for covid.

Somehow I need to learn how to treat this feeling of imminent death as a new norm.

Oh, I asked, so at what point and with what symptoms should I now actually go to hospital? Good question apparently for which there's no good answer.

I lose more and more faith in the mainstream medical apparatus every time I interact with it / hear about it.

I'm no tinfoil hat wearing authority bucking freedom loving conspiracist either - I'm pretty square.

That's why it's been so shocking and hurtful to me to have my faith in that industry iteratively shattered.
I used to think it was just bouncer GPs and once I got through the gauntlet to specialists things would be handled professionally and seriously. But the deeper I've been the worse it's been. It's turtles all the way down.

The only ones who seem to have their heads on straight are research scientists - using actual data and trusting their research subjects.
All the others, it's like they switched off their instruments and are just using 'the force' - only this version of the force doesn't work.

Edit: Oh, and nurses. Nurses seem to have a better handle on things than doctors.

I'm not just going off anti-capitalist agenda against influence of big pharma either - I'm talking the actual boots on the ground who are supposed to help people.

I'm probably being naïve here and treating you like you haven't tried things - but I have quantitative evidence (in myself) that Magnesium L-Threonate reduces average heart rate, tachycardia episodes, lowers orthostatic hypotension, and lowers quantity of palpitations.

It's both the highly bioavailable magnesium, and the effect of L-Threonine which is often overlooked.
The effect is same day/next day. So effectively instant.

But in my case a lot of my situation is gut mediated so YMMV.

I thought I knew binary. I knew powers of 2. I knew how to multiply them. What I didn't fully comprehend was: two's complement, half precision, full precision, fixed point, carries, overflows, mantissas, exponents, biases... division - operations on "binary" (whatever that is) in digital logic. ALUs in general. Unsigned ints with overflow (counters) are easy. Catering for actual arithmetic is hard. Now I know why the math co-processor on my DLC-40 was such a big deal. 2 x 3 = easy. -10000 x -0.866.... not so straight forward at the circuit level.

Need previous copies of income tax 'notice of assessment' forms for a govt related online application. Naturally, Home Affairs couldn't possibly get the information directly from the ATO. Aus govt has been pushing everyone to have 'notice of assessment' forms online via their "MyGov" accounts. Log in this morning to get the info I need from said notices ... not a single one of them is working. They're all visible on the page, but every one of them gives a "not found" XML error when trying to load them

Now another ~48 hours until ATO is open for a phone call that I'm sure will be as enjoyable as dragging my scrotum through broken glass. Cannot wait.

I learned last night that Neanderthal DNA conferred, among other things, enhanced UV protection to Eurasians who mated with them.

Is this the reason for white / pale skin?

The question has been asked before whether Neanderthals were responsible for Eurasian skin tone - but that question was asked directly and using molecular clock methodology, researchers were able to show that pale skin emerged much later than interbreeding with Neanderthals - which was used as reasoning to rule the idea out.

However; what if the pale skin was a secondary effect based on other DNA introduced: namely; enhanced UV protection.

It stands to reason that if a UV protection gene was transferred, which has been shown, the genes for dark skin wouldn't just disappear overnight.
They would stay for who knows how long, until randomly mutated away as selective pressure is no longer on them because they are conferring less of an advantage.
