Nothing to See Here!

Watched Dads - new sitcom produced by Seth MacFarlane and starring Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi.

It was awful.

Indeed, he certainly never drags his shows out a season or two longer than was necessary and winds them down into a farce of their original glory.

Oh, no, wait he does.

-_-

The man can tell an amazing story around "the mystery in the box", but he doesn't ever know what to do when it comes time to reveal the mystery.

(still <3 him though. Alias for eva.)

Combine this with the comment made about JJ, and I think they both could do with spending some time working in England, making shows for BBC or 4.

It would do wonders to force them to work in an arena where they had to stick to one, at most two, seasons to tell a story, and that was it with no guarantee of a follow up, even if it's a smash hit. Make them have the entire season plotted, with an ending, before they even get to get behind a camera.

That's what it was! That's what was missing. But other than the fact that there weren't any I was pretty much completely happy.

Awesome series, Simon should rethink his "first few episodes didn't grab me" position.

Yeah, it is kinda surprising considering that when Saul was being 'extracted' he didn't even know that 'Dad' actually really ran a vacuum cleaner shop.

The premise sounded absolutely horrible - the writers of the Transfomers smashing together Supernatural and Grimm and for some reason making it about Ichabod Crane. But it's actually turned out to be surprisingly decent so far - yes it's a monster of the week show exactly like the two previous mentioned shows, but it's pretty watchable.

The blind american patriotism in the making out of revolutionary war redcoats to all be baby-eating devil worshipers does feel a bit laughable though.

I'm counting on Abrams to see us through. He's been there for us so far.

As much as I loved Alias, it suffered from the EXACT same classic JJ "box of mysterious mysteries" mixed with a deus ex machina to ensure that whatever was in the box solves all of life's problems, and is barely ever an issue discussed for the rest of the series.

Great build up, disappointingly weak climaxes*.

Frustrated me to no end during Alias/Lost.

You know who should do more TV Series? Chris Carter.

*insert mum joke here

Just started series two with the boy. Trying to work out when we should do the "Lone Gunmen" discs. Before "Jump the Shark" I guess.

Watched last night, good value. I liked the casual hint of the larger world when a droid cop commented that people "came over the wall".

Plus the expected "what is it to be human/what is it to grow up" goodness that comes along with the human/android relations package. Reminds me of an Asimov short story I read in the mist of my childhood sometime.

Any time before then will make sense. I'd say after S7, before you start S8.

Just looks like a bunch of tropes thrown together to me.

PS: Caves of Steel.

We could be generous and say molded together? Although my expectation is that the well worn tropes used to draw the audience in will give way into something else deeper and more interesting. Not that I'm an Abrams fanboy or anything.

Thank you for this, I ordered it straight away - although really I should have all of Asimov's books really. I have the Foundation series and a few others at least.

I liked the bit where the policeman pro-ta-gon-ist stiffly tried to get used to his robot limb after recovering from the injuries he suffered in the accident. You know, the accident where the policeman pro-ta-gon-ist saw the cold logic behind android decisionmaking, the accident that has left the policeman pro-ta-gon-ist with a deep mistrust of androids.

And then he puts Stevie Wonder on the stereo and unboxes his vintage Converse shoes.
