What was it that made you think "ya know, I think I can play poker for a living" ? and how much playing is required to actually make a living out of it? 40 hours a week like the rest of us?

Now since September I've been working fulltime as a sales coordinator...
Almost five years on, and all I can add is another sales coordinator job, air freight coordinator, and now again a sales coordinator (but the best one yet - selling home entertainment etc)

Hmm

7 Years, One Supermarket, doing a bunch of stuff.
4 Years, Competing Supermarket, doing a bunch of stuff, plus some other stuff, like Compliance. Compliance is fun!! EVERYONE FILL OUT ACCIDENT FORMS OR I'LL BEAT YOU WITH MY COMPLIANCE STICK RRRAAARRGG TEMP CHECKS TEMP CHECKS STAFF INDUCTIONS

(plus I shelved in a library for a few months. Holy shit that was a boring, low paid job. And back then minimum wage meant it barely covered the bus getting to work. Kids and their 12.50 now a days... don't know how lucky...)

I should look into a real job.

Now 28. 8 moderately full time jobs.

Pre 18: Cleaning bakery at $3.14/hour starting at 7:30am on Saturday mornings, so fun! Mowing random peoples lawns for varying amounts of money.

Summer job at internet cafe in Whangarei. 4 months.
Sometime in 3rd year, started working for event company in Auckland doing security for Rugby games. Red badge group. ~6 months on and off.
Following summer, job weeding around orchid plants. 3 weeks of pain for $10.50/hr.
Security Guard for Chubb for 2.5 years while at Uni.
Repair Technician, PC Company. 3 months. Got laid off as company went belly up.
Security Guard, Chubb. Few more months.
Chemist, Fonterra. 1.5 years at Waitoa factory site. 12 hr shifts, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off. Learned to be wary of passive aggressive Asian guys.
Started company with brother. Got a contract, couldn't turn it into ongoing work. Used experiences as examples in next job interview. Got job.
Technical Support Analyst, Fonterra. (Essentially, 3rd level IT support) 2 years.
Linux Administrator, University of Waikato. Now 1yr 8months. 1st real coffee machine.

Various reasons... Maybe I just went crazy...
Wasn't coping well working for a greedy corporate, the urban life-style, or working in an I.T role...

Working for less than US$150 a month, and enjoying some down-time in South America... Maybe uni next, assuming I don't turn into Colonel Kurtz

So as of now have had 10 jobs in 16.5 years in IT.

1.65 year average at each job, not good I guess.
