Well fair enough. I saw him resisting arrest. Didn't everyone see him resisting arrest? In such a situation, you can't expect the officer to work up a sweat tasing the guy or pepper spraying him or... subduing him manually. So you park the car on his face and tell him to stop resisting arrest.

I guess that some of the ingrained bad pronunciation is a result of the anglicising of the names during the 40's and 50's when the Maori language was suppressed in schools?
