Yeah yahtzee has definatly gone down hill - I was almost disappointed at his GTAIV review to be honest.

Having said that I still find his reviews to actually be a lot more accurate than the more serious ones you'll generally find out in the wilds of the web...

Couldn't find an approval for it in our system which means that it's probably illegal to import it currently. Got a work mate looking to see if it's on any banned list - bear in mind that this is for importation of the actual plant not just for the fruit.

sometimes i think Draco is left leaning in his political views
...and other times i think he leans to the right.

the free-market is an extension of capitalism
it does not have fair distribution of wealth

imo, you need government intervention to redistribute some wealth back into different areas of society.

the free-market philosophy puts too much emphasis on markets and individuals
and not enough emphasis on society as a whole.

power to the people

They have this in tablet form in Japan, so if the plant couldn't be imported, maybe these can be?

I disagree. You cannot have a free market in a capitalist society because the capitalists end up owning the market due to excessive property rights.

No real argument there although I think you'd find you'd need less redistribution under a free-market than under capitalism.

Capitalism puts too much emphasis on ownership and property rights (ie, individualism). A market will spring up when ever you get a few people together because people will always find ways to trade. The market place needs rules that are set at the community level and those rules need to cater to the needs of the community rather than the desires of individuals. If we don't have those rules (or the rules are inadequate or cater to the individual rather than the community) then we end up with a Tragedy of the Commons type tragedy. Basically what we're seeing today in anthropogenic induced global warming, over population etc.

so imho youre not talking about the free-market at all....

my definition of a free-market is where there are almost no controls, and the market is ruled by the forces of supply and demand, with little or no manipulation of these forces.

if youre talking about a market where the needs of the community are placed first...
then i agree with you...
but how you can call that a free-market is beyond me.

A lot of the time that I'm talking about the free-market I'm talking about how there isn't one and how capitalism would collapse if there was. Also, I really do think that people should be free to trade (ie, no tariff barriers etc) but this doesn't mean that there shouldn't be restrictions on what or how they can trade. I see no conflict with the market place being well defined by rules. The people being free to trade within that market is what makes it a free-market. Removal of community supporting rules just creates chaos and brings about the afore mentioned tragedy where only a few will benefit.

anyone noticed how your perception of something can change depending on who told it to you? For example someone who is critical of what they are telling you leaves you wondering if it's true because of thier pov, yet later you find yourself educated when someone knowledgeable tells you the same thing.

HENCE WHY FOREVER ALONE

Locked up the back wheel on my motorbike today as I came out from a downhill bend to find a car had completely stopped to let a bus come up the hill the other way.

Reacted in time to hit the brakes, but was going a little too fast for the sudden stop (was enjoying the lean of the corner), and ended up skidding a good ~5 meters... luckily I had straightened up, and managed to stop before going into the car in front. It felt pretty much like skidding on a BMX with the old pedal brakes, so it was easily manageable (sunny day, dry conditions).

The bus goes by at the same time the rubber smoke wafts past me, and a guy on the bus gives me a thumbs up in return for his entertainment.

Won't be so enthusiastic to hoon around those blind bends in future... but certainly glad to have been in that position and come out of it unscathed.

I will put this down as "experience".
