That Avengers Endgame spoilerific thread is scary.

Going to see it tomorrow night.

In the meantime I am going on a near total internet blackout (nzg is a safe space tho)

What if life on earth didn’t start from a single source, rather different forms of life were sparked or seeded from say multiple asteroids.

Then we would be in exactly the same spot as we are today because the past is fixed?

Had the Goodsam App siren (an app St John use to notify near-by First Aiders of a cardiac arrest) go off last night for the first time since I installed it last August.
Not the most pleasant experience, but very impressed with the response. I was the 2nd first aider to arrive, and then 1 first responder van, 2 ambo's and a fire truck within ~4 minutes of me arriving. Unfortunately it appeared to be in vain as the defib didn't shock and they were intubating as I left.

I'm feeling ok about it - but for one less stoic, I can imagine how the app could put people who think they are prepared to do a 'good deed' into an incredibly stressful and emotional situation.
I dunno, it's a fantastic use of technology, but could do with a bit more of an induction so that they really drill home the realities of the app.

Could/should it be restricted to those with a current first aid certificate or medical registration number?

It is. You have to have current (2 years) first aid certificate.

What model of juniper router/firewall would be typical of their gear and would be good for having a play with to learn?

There's an SRX210 on TradeMe for $110, which should be sufficient to use at home. Are you familiar with other routers/firewalls? Do you know your network protocols?

There looks like there's some stuff on NZHerald Premium I'd like to read but I'm not sure if paying a subscription would be a supporting higher quality articles or subsidising their trash.

Brah - it's so easy to circumvent. There's already a chome extension which does it for you:

If you're just doing access lists and permit/deny stuff to learn the syntax it'll be grouse. The tricky part is the less common stuff, but you won't really learn the ins and outs/traps for young players without real world experience. Some experience is better than none though. Go hard.

I really like the Windows Linux Subsystem. Being able to work on a single all purpose machine with 8GB of RAM and not have to worry about a virtual machine for doing Linuxy dev work is a blessing. I still get all the graphics hardware acceleration and driver support of audio stuff, software compatibility, all with the trade off of not having direct hardware/kernel access from the Linux world. So I can't do netfilter stuff (packet management), but for user space stuff and general coding it's great.

Orcon must be losing customers to Spark due to the upcoming Rugby.

First an email explaining that you don't need to switch to Spark for their streaming service, now a survey testing for knowledge on the above.

Pretty sure mentioning your opposition is a marketing taboo

I suspect they're gathering ammo for their dispute against Spark over the resale rights to the RWC.

Why would they dispute it? Or are you mixing up Sky/TVNZ with Orcon?

Non-alcoholic/0% beers are not not alcoholic. I blew 0.06 after a couple of sips of "0%", only allowed 0.15. I didn't do the experiment to see if more sips meant more alcohol level, or if it was just 0.06 juice on my breath. If I fail in the next two weeks (unlikely, but that was a surprise, stupid label lies), it's another 6 months of interlock ($1000) for me.

For the legitimate folk, that means you can't continue drinking unlimited 0%ers after a few full strength and expect they're contributing nothing to your breath alcohol level.

I've found 3 x 2.5% light beers and then 3 hours of water blows me zero. 3 x 5.4% craft beers and then about 4 hours of water + a feed + a panicked walk in the moonlight for 30 mins blew zero.

FACT: More people die from motor vehicle accidents caused by sneezes, than motor vehicle accidents that didn't happen when you go through a checkpoint. But let's not cut off our noses to spite our fates.

Yeah, No alcohol will probably have a threshold of x% alcohol.

Same ways that all the other's have some thresholds and 5% != 5%
