Comments I read elsewhere held a certain grim truth for me, in that as much as I'd love to see Trump be neck deep, he's too much of an egotist to try and hide his wealth/income as he sees it as a sort of personal scoreboard as to how awesome he is.

Or how long before ... This piece of paper from the release says you have a few billionaros in a bank account. Hand it over or the family members we saw also mentioned on said papers currently in our custody in a secure dark room will meet their maker.

Has anyone noticed that Labour has gone dead silent on the whole Panama tax haven thing?

I wonder if it turned out that too many senior Labour MPs are up to their nuts in Wombat Fortuna dealings... or if they're busy plotting... the brains trust of Andrew Little and Matt McCarten huddling over the biggest whiteboard that Labour funds can buy.

Come to think of it, I suppose Labour is concentrating on the McCully thing. They ought not be letting up on Mossad Fondue thing though. Labour doesn't have any evidence on either issue but that hasn't stopped them before, so why not go for it?

If you ask James Shaw then we look like a tax haven, smell like a tax haven, walk like a tax haven sooooooo, then there's just a perception that we're a tax haven (but he's not saying we're a tax haven outright because he needs to maintain his 'Economic credibility'). If you ask Andrew Little then he'll just stare at you blankly before mumbling something about banning something then hand you a dead fish. As for the media, well from the looks of it (on twitter at least) they appear to be turning on themselves. |

I don't know what people are expecting to be in the data dump, but what's been revealed so far is certainly eye opening, for example the foreign trust explosion.

But that's not something that's been revealed in the Panama leak. Those are stats from the IRD, stats that it has because all these trusts are obeying the law and filing their data.

Indeed, but would we be aware of this if the leak never came about?
Just like JK's "sloppy" relationship with his lawyer, and it seems his indifference is any separation between his public role and his personal affairs. It's almost like these leaks become a disappointing focal point. Like we're only able to be concerned with scandal rather than the legal and mundane ways the rich are increasing their wealth at the expense of the majority.

What else might be of public interest, but never sees the light of day because it's apparently legitimate and normal?

Was anyone asking for it pre-leak? Did anyone think to ask? To consider its significance? Was the public aware?
