hehehhe - we see that a lot, and given both my wife and I are SK fans, we often comment on it
the more that I look at it though, I think I need to invest in a pol. filter - I've got one that fits my 35mm lenses (49mm diameter screw), but my digital lenses are slightly bigger at 52mm diameter.

One arvo after a marathon leaf raking session; he's obsessed with climbing into the leaf pile and burrowing around, finally got one of him where he was visible.

bah - forgot about exif
1/800s at f/7, ISO200 I would have thought have been underexposed, but it's come thru really well..... one thing exif can't tell us is how much post processing was done..... konev, care to elaborate?

Jesus - been away for a while and some superb shots have been posted. Personal faves are most of what VERT and Fatty have posted, and Wibble's swan shot - nice stuff _b
I'm currently sifting through 6 weeks / 1,200-ish shots from my recent travels. Will take me a while, but early personal standouts are: (Interested to know if this is too dark for most people - I can (just) see the facial features of the statue) (So stoked to get lightning on image - my first time!) (Kinda feel guilty about this one: it was deliberately focussed on the guy after I just noticed him at the side of what would've been a fairly bland image... I love the way he is really contemplative and almost praying. But he had no idea he was in the shot and I have no idea who he is.) NB: The above are straight out of the camera - zero post processing other than resizing and conversion to jpg.

It took 79 days total, 10 rest days, 69 riding days. Averaged about 55 miles a day (90km about) including the rest days. Total was 6,789km all said and done. The route I took is called the TransAmerica (or Bike Centennial), first done in 1976. Covers 10 states: Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon. I used a series of maps produced by adventure cycling which are awesome beause they show everything you need (mileage, directions, elevation, motels, gas, groceries etc..) I highly recommend the trip to anyone, and you don't need to be some sort of hardcore cyclist to do it, but a reasonable level of fitness is required if going East-West like me (the appalachain mountains are killer) Adventure cycling: http://www.adventurecycling.org My Mileage, photos etc: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/Weetbicks08 The bulk of my photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/Weetbicks This probably isnt the most suitable thread to be talking about this, so ichat me or msn sometime if you wanna know more, or email daniel "at" digitalfusion "dot" co "dot" nz , my ichat is danielatdf "at" mac "dot" com , or msn is weetbicks "at" hotmail "dot" com.

How much post processing? Looks like the levels have been changed a fair bit to make the colours more vivid

PS Been taking a look at some of your other deviations Havs - you're fairly liberal with the post-processing, but you've developed a nice style with it.

Re: Landscape shots.
Does anyone else struggle with them? I dont think ive ever shot one that I really like. Sure ive seen heaps that are cool, I just never seem to "feel" landscape shots. Anyone else have similar issues? |
28th August 2008, 14:18 | #280 |
|
Yeah, generally with every photo I take. I'm completely in awe of the shots in here, I have nothing, and I do mean nothing, that even comes close to comparing to the bucket loads of awesome contained in here.
That said, ATM I spend way too much time working, and not nearly enough, (read virtually any), with the camera. |
