I think season 5 will be the last. I also think it will end with the fall of Dexter. I dont mean his death, but his final evolution from man bearing the burdon of the Dark Passenger to the Dark Passenger devouring the man. As much as I want Dex to be "saved" it wouldnt fly imho. He is broken, and that will ultimatley destroy him.

As long as they ignore the books and follow the path forged by the TV show. The last thing I want to see is the supernatural bullshit direction the books took.

Dexter and Californication need to move to 24 episode seasons man, well, only if they can continue the strength of the writing across the board.

The only issue I had with Dexter is that it seemed to be rushed at the end, following a fucking great storyline build up.

On a side note

I'm so glad that whinging fucking Rita has been killed, it was adding a dynamic to the show that was annoying the shit out of me. I wonder if this will cause a shift in the way Dexter picks/takes out his targets and if we may see a season where he preys upon those that aren't absolutely guilty
