the movie was seamless and flowed accordingly. at no point was anyone or anything carrying the film.

You're both wrong. Joss Whedon carried the movie.

Does seem to lose a little something being scripted rather than the pseudo reality TV style of the others. To answer your question: if in a relatively full theatre then yes worth a ticket

surprised you could tell that from such a terrible quality trailer. Will needs to fix his lower teeth, they're terrible.

Watched John Carter today.
Really think that if they'd marketed it a bit smarter that it wouldn't have been such a flop. It was actually quite an enjoyable movie, if a little long and slow in a couple of places. It's a bit sad that because it didn't satisfy the bottom line that there will probably never be a sequel. The CG was quite well done, and Lynn Collins was rather hot, I thought... At least Amazon seems to have all of the books for free though. Last edited by p-b : 3rd June 2012 at 23:59. |

Yeah I thought John Carter was good to, not awesome, but good enough to past the time.
Safe House was also pretty decent as well. |

[url=http://www.wired.com/magazine/2012/02/ff_johncarter/]Wired ran a great article before the release of the movie and particularly Andrew Stanton, who a) probably shouldn't have been given so much leeway (someone telling him "no" might have helped and b) got too much of his own way on the marketing side as well. The trailers definitely didn't help the release at all, which is shame because it was pretty enjoyable.

John Carter was not a great film by any means, but watchable. It is quite bizarre that the studio envisaged a quaint, rather obscure work by Burroughs turning into some kind of mega franchise - the property is just not really compelling enough in the modern era.
Melancholia I thought was fucking excellent, but if you're not a von Trier fan you should avoid like the plague. |

I actually thought there was a good story hiding in john carter. it was just hidden by a sh1thouse script and directing.
Watched Your highness on the weekend. I expected to ignore the TV while it was on but it was actually fairly good (if your idea of good is low, low, low brow dick, fart and weed jokes (which mine is)). I didn't really think Danny McBride could carry a movie but everyone else seemed to pick the slack up. |

I give it a 7/10, was surprised it wasn't better. Just didn't *pop* off. needed more alien interaction |

Yeah, I watched a couple, definitely regretting it (having not seen the movie). Disappointing to hear it didn't live up to the hype, like most things..

As so far as Sci Fi goes, Prometheus was pretty sweet.
However, there were heaps of places they could have built the tension more, and I think that was the main thing lacking for me. Didn't check it in 3D, but I think I will cause visually it looked amazing.
