Are these the cars with a chev engine? If so the badge obviously refers to the engine. Just like people that put badges on cars for other components (Alpine, Recaro, Koni, Pirelli, Holley, etc)

GM badge != Chev Badge!

This was mainly about REPLACING the original badge, not a sticker, not a sponsor shopping list, a replacement badge for the original.

As such I wasn't specifically talking about the newer ones which are a derivitive of every other version they distribute around the world as most cars are now (notably the "commodore" is sold in malaysia as some fucked up name, but not the US at all ..), notably putting a "GM" badge would be less dickery than putting a Chev badge as for these cars there is no DIRECT equivalent of the same line.. (I'd even still argue the differences on the Pontiac -> Holden are enough to substantiate douchery ... but lets not get into that).

I'm talking about the pillocks in VK, VL, VH, VN, VP, VR, VS Holdens and most others below 2000's, which have no real "Chev/Pontiac" clones.

Most of these DO have fairly close OPEL/Vauxhall relatives (VN, VR and VS has Toyota haha), go on put an opel/toyota badge on ..dare ya. But again ... no car produced by the Brand "Chevorlet" looks the same/similar of the same year.

If they put "GM" badges on ... sure go for broke...your on the money about that, same as if you put "Ford" badges on your car, its the "Parent Company", sweet as no problem there.
But if you for an example put a Volvo badge on your Rx7 (since ford also produce those cars) you would look like a douche (and rightly so soiling the rx7).

I can't recall the last time ANYONE put a Holden badge on a Chev ... most won't do that cause its a downgrade "brand wise", and they know that .. which is why they try to upscale their Holden Commodores with Chev badges that aren't even badges normally they are cheap nasty stickers, usually in homo silver or gold.

If say you have an HQ holden, you've put in a 350 chev or 383, whatever, then sure put a sticker on for displaying your new engine, your car however is still a Holden, powered by Chev.

Badges do not somehow make it magically better or cooler, it just makes you look like a wannabe.

The VE Commodore did appear in the states as the Pontiac G8. They'd probably still be selling it if the entire division wasn't killed off.

Also Holden badge/front end swaps are relatively common on the Pontiac GTO/G8 in the States, I'll bet if they were marketed as a Chevrolet stateside you'd still get people changing the badges.
