Yeah when the 900 came out it was could this be the best camera ever? No.
920 comes out, could this be the best camera ever? No.
925 comes out, could this be the best camera ever? No.
1020 comes out, could this be the best camera ever? Maybe, but does anyone really need their phone to have a 41 mega pixel camera? Maybe, but I certainly don't want one with an ENORMOUS black lens on the back of it.

As if anyone is going to buy that dock monstrosity thing Poison, like Saladin pointed out, just because it exists doesn't mean that's what everyone is going to buy and OMG everyone must be fucking idiots.

mm not quite, I bet they do get most of the photography they need from the public so I think it's a a great idea and how high quality does the film really need to be anyway? They can just have an editor that sifts through dozens of photos till they find the right one, crop it and done.

I'm sure if you take 300 photos of the same thing from the public you're going to find one photo good enough for print.

They would seem appropriate accompaniment to the "news" articles reporting on peoples responses on facebook and twitter, which are apparently news worthy now.

Mildly humourous. If only the Galaxy S4 was so easy to use. But hot damn Samsung, Microsoft et al all have such Apple-love to display apple products as the central focus of their ad campaigns.

This.

When was the last time anyone showed off or even gave a shit about their iPhone? Now it's usually some insufferable cunt crapping on about the speakers on their new HTC or the awesome screen on their new Samsung whateverthefuck.

I was reading an interesting article the other day about the demographic makeups of advertising agencies in Australia (so I'm guessing it applies to NZ too). Basically they're what you would expect: super cosmopolitan with young hip mobile creative people from all over the world. The thesis of the article was that this uberdiverse background means that ad agencies cannot do irony and fuck it up whenever they try, because not enough people at the agencies were born and raised in the country where the ad is running and each hip creative ad person really has no cultural reference points in common with the audience he or she is trying to reach.

So when a company hires an Australian ad agency to appeal to an Australian audience by running ads featuring Australians doing stuff in Australia, but the client is Korean and the agency creative director is from Turkey and the copywriter is American and the account manager is from the Ukraine, there's nobody in the loop who can say "this ad is fucking lame" - there's not even anyone in the loop who NOTICES that it's lame.

Then the ad runs and the client and the hip creative people don't understand why people in the target audience are facepalming and laughing.

Can you actually submerge the Samsung Galaxy S4 into a sink full of dirty soapy dishwash water without voiding the warranty? If so, that's actually impressive as.

(f*ck no I don't want one).

Seems like the same lame dumb-shit level of marketing that appealed to the majority of iphone users in the first place.

edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdIWKytq_q4#at=75 - food for thought.

No! You certainly cannot. However if you have a Galaxy S4 Active - sure! It's got a crappier camera than the S4, but it *is* water proof. And it was announced 3 months after the Galaxy S4. Because Fuck You, that's why.

(oh plus it's a slightly different shape to a regular S4, so the cases for those fit quite right and cover the headphone socket.)

(oh! And the touch screen has a really hard time knowing you're pressing it when the phone is under water, making the ability to use it for under water photography... weirdly broken right out of the box?)

Only the sounds of a humming CNC machine and his sobs could be heard as Jony lied prone on the floor. Steve's body had barely turned cold when the MBAs kicked in the door of his workshop, screaming about marketshare and diversification, waving around some plastic "phablet" made by the Koreans as proof of their god. A cheap plastic iPhone? After all of those years spent perfecting glass and aluminum? A lower price point? The outrage brought along with each question gripped Jony at his very core, turning his sobs into choked screams.

At that moment a soft tone was heard from the machine nearby, and a perfect aluminum katana slid forth on a tray. Regaining his composure, Jony lifted himself up, sighed, and sheathed the katana in a scabbard made of Gorilla Glass and keyboard keys. He called his assistant and spoke softly "I'm ready to talk about the low cost iPhone, please send them in."
