Reaching out to third parties that have clearly been hacked is always an eye opener. Today: “we can’t call our IT, we can only email them. I’ll have to email them again.” - someone who’s had their 365 account pwnd.

We picked up that a local business had been compromised via an Outlook mailbox hack, and resulting reply-chain messages coming in to us. I got hold of the IT chaps, and they confirmed it. I knew a bloke that worked the coalface as a laborer (gets work requests via email on his phone) and I mentioned that in 6-8 weeks he will notice something - fully expecting either a ransom event or some PII data that was exfiltrated being sold.

Mentioned it to him a month or so later, keen to see if anything happened - he moaned about having to use something called "Authenticator" now. FFS - he wasn't presviously???

It's been a ride this week. My position was disestablished, and I was made redundant. I start apply for roles, and my current employer approaches me for a more senior role they created as part of this restructure. I apply, and they offer it to me for above market rate.

So I lost my job and got promoted all within a week.

here's a lol(at least a lol to me). so 15months or so ago my role at work changed so i've been doing labs like a mad man to try and skill appropriately towards the shit i come across daily. decided to check seek.co.nz for some of the jobs that could be out there based on the exposure im getting. had to lol when i came across this https://www.seek.co.nz/job/69804317 . i remember playing poe with my flatmate when i lived in gisbourne back in 2015. he probably still plays it, had no idea it was local.

Ok, I never realised it equated to so much.

So there was a 10k payment already made, then there is a 15k payment they are getting.
Then the pay increase back dated to Mar 2022, so lets they the pay increase is between 10-20k that would be 15-30k.

So all up if someone was working since 2020, the would get 40-55k.
And then they will all get slammed into the higher tax bracket, so the govt will get a third of that back.
