I've watched a fair amount of modern war movies / documentaries / tv series, but none I could say was as unbiased / non-judgemental as that. Interesting stuff. |

Thoughtful review, definitely plan to watch it now... But you forgot to mention whether or not at any stage, do you get to see Alexander Skarsgård nekkid? This is important. Don't skimp on the details.

So Falling Skies has been renewed for a second season.
Its apparently doing really well tho I wouldn't have thought so. I'll watch it but I find the series barley adequate. Definitely don't rate it at all. |

or wait for the BBC version on Friday and enjoy the 10 minutes that was cut out of the US one (yesterday's) ?
|

Always itchy
|
yeah except there's speculation there was more cut from teh BBC one than from the Starz one, since they can get away with more on a US cable channel than on BBC
unless the producers have definitively noted what's been cut?

Time to come clean, I've watched 7 episodes of Teen Wolf.
I have not seen "Vampire Diaries" but I watched my first episode after watching The Cape so maybe it just looked good in the shit brown afterglow I don't know. It actually reminds me of an '80s movie, it's very light, the characters are likeable and while the plot isn't filled with riveting twists and turns things are kept reasonably lively. It even has one or two references to the old movies: "what do you think people are just going to keep cheering ?" |

Watched the first episode of Alphas, a "superhero" series from ScyFy. Not too bad, was expecting mega cheese given its a superhero series from ScyFy but they played it pretty straight.

I see Lost Girl is soon to be on local AU telly.. Did it get any better?
I watched the first two or so episodes. Very cool premise, gorgeous girls, but just couldn't hold a candle to True Blood, etc as far as production value and script writing goes.

So being too scared to venture into the 'song of ice and fire' thread for fear of spoilers, and given that I'm about to go on holiday for a week or so, and also given that I've watched all of GoT that's been screened so far:
1. does everything that's been screened so far match the first book? Or if I read the first book will I get spoilers? 2. is it worth still reading the first book even if you've watched what's been screened? 3. if you have watched what's been screened, is it worth reading past it just to experience the story, or is the 'tv' experience worth waiting for? (I'm assuming not, but you never know.) 4. are there nice tits in the book versions too, or is that just a tv thing? (nom nom) |
