Still got myself lined up for a good shot of the shield coming thru, and bloody Chris Masoe grabs it and runs off down the road - on the far side of the trailer to where I was - so I miss it.... FUCK! So I run down the road after him.... got one ok shot, but overall pretty rubbishy. BAH!

LOL @ Aucklanders caring or not. Like Spoon1 said, who gives a fuck whether Auckland cares or not? Wellington has it and that's all that Wellington cares about.

It's a worry that NZ's biggest S14 franchise with the most players to draw from are struggling so badly in this years ANZ Cup. It astounds me how much better this Lions outfit are playing compared to their Hurricanes counterpart that is hopeless in wet conditions and every 2nd or 3rd game they were cursed with handling error counts of 10+ per game. This Lions team is a Unit man, they're incredible.

A little tip people, put your money on 1st Scoring Play Wellington Try. It pays about $4 which is ridiculously high considering only one match this season that the 1st scoring play in a Wellington match HASN'T been a Wellington Try. I've won heaps off this. The TAB hasn't caught up with the fact that 1st Scoring Play is more likely to be a Try than a penalty with the ELV's and they still haven't adjusted their odds.

I have been to two epic rugby games in my life - the AB's vs Australia at Athletic Park in 1996, and Taranaki's first shield defence vs North Harbour when we lifted it from Auckland (also in 1996).

New Plymouth had been pumping for the whole week, the entire North Island was sold out of Taranaki jerseys and to boot it was an awesome sunny afternoon. Rugby Park was absolutely packed to the gunwales (this is pre Yarrow Stadium so the ground was mostly grass banks and concrete terraces) and the atmosphere was like nothing else I'd ever seen before - Taranaki ended up defending on their own try line for what seemed like the last 15 minutes of the second half and eventually held on to retain the shield 13-11, having only had it for 7 days. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one in the crowd who was completely drained by the full time whistle.

Please don't fuck with the Shield.
