Wifi not detected out of the box in Linux, Bluetooth is. I have it plugged in, so WiFi is not an issue. 4K YouTube no problems, but as per usual the open source drivers aren't fantastic for 3D. WebGL Aquarium gives me 10k fish at 60FPS with open source drivers and ultra wide res. I don't game, and under Windows it would probably work much better. As long as it can play multiple videos at once and not sound like a jet engine, I'm happy.

I've tried pushing this in the workplace: "Fuck Javascript" "we're making courses for nurses - how many blind nurses are there?" "uhhh, still, fuck javascript?" "Bruh, are we really supporting the blind?" "No but, ... Linux?" "..." "Fine." But I still agree. If everything was simple - 1GB video chat could be 25kb of text telling you the salient points.... a song could basically be a text saying "nothing important, fuck that" etc. I think there should be a standard for simpletons and a standard for the Apple mob who need decoration and novelty to receive their information. And I want 20c for every page that the Apple mob wants, because they're wankers with too much money.

Short (work) story.
Got offered a deal to be able to do a Masters degree as part of an international project looking at media producer ownership on an international scale (so lots of access to international auditors company files). Actually kind of a big fuckin' deal and I'm pretty flattered to have been suggested for it but... Had to explain to them* how it would be more profitable for me to work as a gardener. Them: "But, but the value of a master degree in the job market..." Me : "Is absolutely nothing, and here is the data to support that, which is why I was suggested for this project. Do fucking better and stop trying to scam your employee's". The academics I can deal with because they generally get the shit situation most people are in, but the faculty bureaucrats are just fucking insane. *faculty bureaucrats

What is the going rate for a gardener? Wages don't seem especially competitive across the board these days.
Is that how it is?

$27 an hour is what I can get if working a crew - if I run solo (so site assessment, quotes + work) then up to $45 an hour.
The $27 figure was my comparison when talking with the faculty.

I’d love to have been a fly on the wall in the office when it was decided to turn on key logging in Windows 11. No sane programmer would enable that unless under duress surely?
All your typed keystrokes entered into a compressed file that’s a few KB in size per week of work is a hackers wet dream.

My wife came running up to me in a panic from the computer saying she thinks she has clicked on a scam email
She wasn’t impressed when I started laughing - it was a scam test email from her work

Hey guys remember that Super rugby match between the Crusaders and the Waratahs at Jade back in the early oughts where the Crusaders kerbstomped the Tahs so bad it was like, can the franchise ever recover from this?
The Afghan cricket team are doing that to the Black Caps, right now |
