QF1: England v Australia
Who else is up watching this?
I have to say England look really fired up. Australia playing it cool, just moseying out to the field. I'm tempted to say England might pull this off. 22-15 to England.

Watching it now. The scrums are a mess from the start, and Australia's weak scrum got awarded a penalty
The ref needs to pull his head out, and get some reports from the touchies about Fat Arse Dunning going down faster than a 2-dollar Thai hooker. |

Yeah the scrums are terrible. I think it's 50/50 on infringing though. Sheridan's hardly innocent.
GG Wilkinson on the RWC points record.

Nice tackle by Wilkinson on Mortlock!
Mortlock still looks helluva dangerous though...

I wonder what comments the ex-Wallabies coach Eddie Jones will have to say after that game...
|
7th October 2007, 03:56 | #18 |
|
What happened at the end? I was listening to the stream and Aussie got possession with 30 seconds to go... then I thought they still had it and it seemed like 2 seconds after full time the ref blew the whistle.. ?!!?
no accounting for injury time or anything? (or did England get possession back?) |
7th October 2007, 03:57 | #19 |
|
Knock-on by Aussie at a break-down after 80mins, and the ref called it. Seems like more and more games get stopped just after 80mins. You very rarely see games these days go to 82 minutes, let alone 85.

This is fucking great, I'd rather meet England in the semi than the Wallabies.
Australia: only WC-winning team to ever get knocked out at the quarter-final stage. Chokers. *cough* |

Well, I was going to bed at 2am but thought I'd just watch the first 5 to 10 minutes and Aus's first couple of tries before turning in to get up for the NZ game.
Most tense game of rugby I've watched for a while, and as an expat pom living in NZ if the AB's do the business (as they bloody well should) I really don't know who to support next weekend (Although it'll more than likely be the AB's, been here too long now to feel much attachment to the England squad) |
7th October 2007, 04:07 | #26 |
|
Will France try the same tactic on ABs??
Aussies look like they didn't commit enough people into rucks, hoping to run and pass the ball once it is out of the ruck. It never came out, instead England turnover the ball, and Jonny Wilkinson did the rest.
What a great game. Now time for 4hr sleep. |

The Wallaby scrum was feeble. Moore, Dunning, Shepherdson, Freier, Baxter... they got owned bigtime. I thought there was going to be an England pushover try at one point.
It was the scrums that lost Australia the game. |

I'm so glad I didn't stay up to watch this one, I thought Australia was going to thump England.
Englands score once again divisible by 3 - BOOOORING

australia were disgraceful. gregan had his worst game all year, and we were completely dominated at the ruck. any possession the backline had, they dropped it or handed over possession with an awful kick. fuck england.
