It's certainly an interesting watch, but viewers should go in with their sceptic hat firmly planted on their head and be aware that it's considered a "docudrama" by many (which isn't a bad thing) and tacit agitprop (which isn't quite so great) by others.
It wasn't "banned" per se, its release and screenings were delayed and cancelled due to legal threats of libel. Also worthy of note is its promotion by groups of Russian patriots, including Natalia Veselnitskaya (the Russian lawyer who met with Trump (sr & jr), Manafort and Kushner in 2016) who has strong links to Russian media groups supportive of Putin.
